Outside Air / Recirculated Air

1.33 TR with Dual Control air system.

Strange one this.

Normally when you first start the engine the Outside Air / Recirculated Air light is "Off", meaning Outside Air is being used. For some unknown reason, all of a sudden, today, my system has changed so that the default position is with the light on & air is being recirculated.

Not a major problem in itself, just wondering what other peoples experiences are!

What temp was the climate control set to?

I think its because of the warmer weather that the car switches this on, as it cools the cabin down faster than if it was outside air.

As above... I noticed that last year as a new owner.

Seem to remember on hot days if you turned the temp right down it also reverts to recirculated even if its been running for ages.

If you allow the aircon to run on outside air at 19c for example, then hit the recirculation button, you will hear the fans speed up.

Toyota just gets cleverer & cleverer! Now if I can train it to do the same when I'm sat behind a smelly bus I'll be in heaven :yahoo:

Thanks guys.

Some other makes already have that technology!

There are 'Air quality' sensors built in that close off flaps to outside air if there is pollution creeping in.

Very clever.
