Hi all

Well just had my Avensis T4 for just over a week now... Love it... bit cramped since downsizing from the LC but nevertheless love the T4

However, just thought I'd ask, does anyone know hte best way to get smoke smell out of the car? And also is it possible to get the cruise control radar gadget installed as an extra or does it have to come from the factory???

Regards

Rob

Hi Bob, what about that stuff they advertise on TV called Febreeze for getting rid of that smokey smell.

Get one of the "bombs" you can buy to get rid of nasty niffs, its a pressurised canister you let off inside the car and it permiates all through the car. The only trouble is smoke smells hang around a long time and you might have the smell in the car for quite a while

I had my car 'Bombed' like Kingo describes, and it worked well, although on warm days i was getting the odd smell of stale smoke in the car, but i changed the pollen filter last week and it has gone, so i guess that it held on to a lot of the smell and it was more noticeable on a warm day.

unfortunately, you cant get cruise control on the CVT :crybaby: I even tried to have it fitted before I got mine and it can be retrofitted to manual cars, but not the CVT for some reason that no-one knew. About the only thing I dont like about the car....

Ive got cruise control on the CVT, its the radar system I was wondering about, you know , the one which slows the car down should the car ahead of you be doing less than what you set your cruise controll to... if that makes sense

Cheers for the replies in regards to the smoke smell...

Ive at the moment tried barcarbonate of soda and some smellies, its kinda working but still get the odd wiff of smoke... as I dont smoke it bothers me, so I'm gonna see about getting the car bombed... off to the oracle called internet to see how and where I can get it done ;)

Is it a genuine Toyota cruise control? Its the only thing I really miss on the car. Both Inchcape (who I got the car from) and Listers who service it have both said that you can't have cruise on a CVT. But I want it!!!!

The NL price list specifies a cruise control as "dealer option" for the Avensis CVT model.

It's even cheaper than a manual-6 cruise control.

So, I would say... it obviously does exist. :)

I can deffinately say that it does exist as I've got one... its the CVT with cruise control... what I'd really like to know is if the radar system can be installed as an extra by a dealer or if they have to come factory installed....

As far as I can see, it's a factory install feature.

Over here, it can be ordered only on the 2.2 D-Cat Business Executive model, as a "Safety Pack", and only in combination with the "Premium Pack".

With that, you get HID headlights with an adaptive front lighting system, Pre-crash safety system, Lane Keep Assist (the Radar) Adaptive Cruise Control, and a Lane departure Warning system.

Oh, and the Glass Panorama roof.

Those 2 packages will cost an extra 4280 Euro.

  • 2 weeks later...

I wonder if that is the nub of it then, that its only a factory fit option (I dont deny that people have it, it is after all listed as an option on the Toyota website). Certainly the two dealers I spoke to about getting it retro-fitted said it couldn't be done (and one would assume that, as I was willing to part with hard earned cash in their direction, they would have done so if they could)

Typical :crybaby:
