Gear Selection Problem

Hi !

Apologies i'm new to this board, i've done a quick search but can't find any relevant posts.

My problem is i have an Avensis which has just suddenly decided it doesn't want to come out of first gear.

I just cannot move the lever (manual) at all.

Car still starts.

Cables seem ok to me but not sure how to check those.

Anyone with any ideas

Regards

Glenn

Seen a few post on here and would recommend a gearbox oil change. Then try again

Hi Glen and welcome to the forum, try this ... get two people to help by pushing and pulling the car in a rocking motion with the handbrake and engine off whilst you pull on the gear lever to try and get back into neutral.

If this works I would also recommend changing the gearbox oil.

Good luck ... Pete.
