Egr Valve Cleaning

Having read the excellent thread on egr valve cleaning, I thought I would check mine with a view to cleaning. I have a 2.2 d4d on a 10 plate (59) 21,000 0n the clock and currently averaging 35 per gallon no matter how I drive, this is of course according to the cars computer. So hey a quick fix with egr clean. Anyway looking under the bonnet the layout is very different to the picks posted the valve is on its side facing forward and therefore difficult to access and the bolt fixing configeration is different. Anyway my question is do you think Toyota has modified the valve to prevent soot build up?

I really doubt they would change spec for this component since the 2.2 have not been available since 09 I think.

And I doubt they can make a diesel egr that doesn't soot up eventually just because of the nature of diesel fuel... Dirty.

I cleaned this when I had the car, and access to the bolts attached to the block itself was awkward! You will need wrench and extensions plus a universal joint bit. At least I found that helpful.

Good luck.

I may be wrong, but i get the impression that Crasstoe originaly asked what engine you had because he hadn't read your post correctly, and then he changed his post after he read it again.

I don't think he was getting up on a pedastal to boost his ego, he just altered his original post to read that he re-read you post and that answered his question.

Maybe someone else should be looking at the quality of their posts...?

I agree! There seems to be a chip flying about. From what I have seen Crasstoe has always been very helpful. Chill pill required. :) :)

Thank you for the support on that one, not really sure what to say but sorry if I caused offence, none intended. As mentioned I simply edited the post once i re-read yours. (that was read as in "red" )

Back on topic, maybe a quick phone call to your local Toyota Garage may help? If it is anything like the one here they are normally happy to answer questions re: self maintenance :)

All this confusion because Crasstoe omitted 1 simple letter. An I.

Then it would have read, " I have just re-read (red) your post" . Not "Just re-read (reed) your post".

Not having a pop at you Crasstoe by any means, just proving with the English language how 1 letter could start world war 3......

To be honest K19 SBS has only made a couple of posts and was down right rude in one of them!

Anybody with even the slightest knowledge of the English language would have known what Crasstoe meant and should not even have to apologise for a minor typo

Kingo

I agree.

In the post below Crasstoe's i asked if he had any pics available, but he ignored the offer of assitance and went in for the insult instead.

I certainly won't be offering to help him again.
