I don't know much about them, from what I have heard the genuine WRC kit fitted cars like yours were of a very limited run, they weren't massively powerful but their chassis has always been the main cause of praise.

There are always things you can do to get some more powah! :D

Hello and welcome to TOC.

I bought my E11 Corolla 1.6 SR new in 1998. At that time Toyota dealers were selling the Corolla World Rally Replica Kit to celebrate the Corolla's success in the World Rally Championship. It was only available as a dealer fit kit when you bought a new Corolla from them. The kit consisted of

4 x white 16" replica wheels fitted with 205/45 tyres

TTE front bumper / spoiler

TTE Rear spoiler

TTE lowered spring kit (made by Eibach)

TTE sports silencer (made by Remus)

The cost was £1410 inc VAT but excluding fitting and painting.

A Castrol Rally decal kit was also available at an extra cost of £290.75 inc VAT and the fog lights were available at £155.00 inc VAT. Locking wheel nuts were available at an extra £38.55p inc VAT

Some dealers fitted the kit to Corollas in a bid to sell more kits and all the ones I saw were fitted to white Corolla GS models.

I wanted to buy the kit but I didn't want white wheels on a silver car and the dealer would not split the kit so I went out and bought the items I wanted separately.

I've scanned the kit brochure - you can see it here

I've still got my Corolla though there aren't that many original parts left - if you want to see what I've done it take a look at my website www.ae111sr.co.uk

Excellent post ae111sr!

It's such a shame all this tte kit is so damn hard hard to get hold of now!

Although I'm not actually a huge fan of the front bumper I am desperate for the rear wing! Those White alloys set it off a treat too.

My G6 wants some tte lovin'!

Thanks for everyones help, gutted it's not a ltd edition car but think most of the White ones were originally the show cars. Found out that mine I bought from Bradford is originally from my home town so must be the one I used to ogle when I was younger!

Love your silver one I've seen it magazine featured etc, did Fensport do some work on it?

No work done by Fensport but the Engine and sideskirts came from them. They recommended the guy who did the engine transplant and he still services the Corolla for me even though he's 90 miles away from me - I wouldn't trust anyone else with it.

009 that is a VERY nice looking motor you have there. I've got a plan up my sleeve at the moment to purchase exactly the same looking car as yours, unfortunately in nowhere near as good condition as yours though!

ae111sr - fantastic info there mate, cheers!

Just one question, the 16" replica wheels, do you know what manufacturer they are? Are they TTE stamped?

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread

Posted

Ooo do you have any pics of it? The wheels aren't marked with a make but my wheel guy mentioned the name today so I'll ask again as I can't remember. I'm takig the car to my dads mate tomorrow who is an ex Toyota mechanic and remembers the car being in the showroom from new! So I'll ask if he knows too. I'm looking for two spare wheels for it.

For now though it's just tlc for the car as the last owner hasnt exactly been kind to it

No pics as of yet (don't want to jinx it before I've done the deal) but it looks the spitting image of your car. If I hadn't seen this thread (and seen ae111sr's sooo useful info) I wouldn't have known about the upgrade - these must be quite rare cars now as how many people would have wanted to spend another £1400+ back in the day on a car that cost around £10k?

Interesting with your car, the one I'm looking at, and the ae111sr#s advert show there are no side bump strips on these cars. It does make the car look a whole lot smoother.

Does yours still have the Remus rear silencer on it? What is the interior like? Is it the normal washed out grey or the G6 black/red combination? Would be interesting to see some pics.

Ooo can't wait to see pics of it! Yeh I'm mean 1400 on top of the car price is a lot and I'm thinking that's why any car fitted with them is rare but the really rare ones are the handful of White ones used to advertise the kit and I've had it confirmed that mine was one of them by the family friend who worked at my local dealership in Lincolnshire but I got the car from Bradford!

As for the interior it's the horrible try inside I'm afraid, just with a kenwood head unit and I've ordered a whit Trd knob as the one that came with it was shocking lol. I'd love to get hold of g6r interior and nearly baught a Shell to take all the stuff from but it's too far away so I'll just have to wait. Unfortunately the Remus has been removed for a pee shooter so will be getting changed

Posted

Oh and the bump strips were removed and I totally agree the car looks much smoother :)

Posted

The car I'm looking at had the stickers on it but have been taken off so the paint would need buffing.

I think you're right, these are rare cars, look at the possible numbers:

1. Would probably have been a white 3 door car in 1998/99.

2. Someone would have WANTED to fork out an extra £1400+ and have the hassle of doing it themselves, or paid for an ex-demonstrator (yours may have been one of these if was in the showroom?)

Can't see many people having done this!

I'd be surprised if more than 100 people went for it.

I'll sort out pics when hopefully the deal is done. You say your interior is crappy, well from the outside your car looks very nice indeed. I wouldn't be worried about interiors, they can be changed easily.

Enjoy your car, was it a 1.3 or a 1.6?

Posted

Argh I can't hang around for a TTE wing in gonna go for the Fk replica I think! They look so good!

G6R - can I ask what back box you have on your corolla? I want to keep the standard one but there is a tail trim (Toyota fitted from new) I want to get but finding it hard to find! You ever seen it? Fitted to all new corollas I believe but probably lost when replacements are bought...

Posted

Yeh I agree that they must be rare I've Only ever seen four for sale. It's a 1.6 so not too slow but hardly the 400bhp my gt4s running lol but it's about saving me money I guess!

I believe you can still get hold of the original Remus exhaust via Toyota but I wouldn't think itd be cheap. I got a replacement Tte exhaust for my starlet Sr and that cost a lot

Posted

Ben G6 - you can buy a TTE spoiler (supposedly) here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160414181408

I contacted them about it to see if it had a TTE Badge with it and got no answer to my question, they just told me how much the postage would be.

I think my backbox has been replaced, its looking pretty rough now, can't see it getting through the MOT but I can but hope!

Pikey009 - yes, they are a rare car, and I'm one step closer to owning one as of this evening! The one I'm after is a 1.3 5-speed.

I trust you've seen this one advertised - different wheels than yours but everything else similar (other than the stickers of course).

http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/1998-toyota-corolla-wrc-rep-not-golf-bora-mg-vauxhall/77849865

Did yours have stickers on it do you know? You may be able to tell from the paintwork unless its been buffed all over?

Posted

Very nice mate! Yeh mine did have the stickers at some point but they have been removed and the car has been re sprayed in pearlecent White. They've sprayed over the front grill stickers for some strange reason instead of removing them. It's not a great paint job to be honest by it is just a run about at the end of the day

Just saw one of these in the flesh today, exactly the same as your one! Looked a nice car from what I could see of it (we were both moving).

I'll try and get some pics of mine today....

The 16" wheels were made by a company called Mim Tecnomagnesio which are based in Italy.

As I remember, most dealers specced up one of these when new. The dealer I worked at for many years did 2 or 3, can't remember exactly.

We had them as service loan cars would you believe, cracking mobile advert actually, and brought people into the dealership who probably wouldn't have done otherwise.

Sold them on to induviduals locally at the time, when they were about a year old or so. Although they went locally, didn't see them afterwards until about 3 years ago, one pulled in as the guy was passing, nice to see it still being used.

how do i get pics on here guys? as its totally different from the gt4oc. ive got some of the corolla on my laptop id like to use
