Owners Handbook

Hi Folks,

Does anybody know where I can find an owners handbook (in English) preferably in pdf format?

Guess my google-fu is weak this week but I can't find one anywhere

Mine came with a handbook (not unreasonably) in Spanish, I can read a bit of Spanish, but not this much and nowhere near quick enough, the dealer has been promising to get one for best part of 2 months but I'm guessing it's not high on his list of things to do and he's hoping I'll just go away.

There's something on the dashboard display that I need to set up or initiate, not sure what, the heating/cooling recirc light that keeps coming on unbidden, and the setup stuff on the right hand radio menu for bluetooth and stuff like that I've not quite figured.

As I say, pdf format would be great if poss coz I can d/l it to my Kindle...

If you pm me with your email address I will send you a pdf US version. There is no diesel info but the controls are all there. You will not stop the recirc defaulting. It is programmed to get to the set temperature by the quickest means so in extremes of temperature it will use recirc. If you leave it the recirc will eventually switch off.

Bless you Squire, you're a true gentleman!

Having noted the lack of replies on this normaly most helpful of helpful forums I was thinking maybe it's not my weak google-fu, perhaps the document is not about to be found - that thing on the recirc is really bugging me, can't turn the batsard off :(

Email addy is easy, it's - lb at elbee.org - just do the obvious with the "at" I guess :)

Do you guys want entertaining with my latest trip to Mr T's Costa Blanca representatives or should I keep the €800 for side steps to myself?

Recirc is a bit annoying until you realise it is trying to help you. Either just ignore it or switch it off manually.

I will send you the pdf's in the next couple of days.

Cheers anchorman, received part one today and interesting reading it made too - the sort where you read a bit, think "wonder if that's on mine" go and look and it is  Now, I'm no lightweight bit this one made me chuckle.....

"If your seat belts cannot be fastened securely because they are not long enough, a personalized seat belt extender is available from your Toyota dealer free of charge."

That's a cute way of sayin' you're a bit porky, can you guess it's a 'murrican handbook

The auto recirculation can be reprogrammed to manual by the dealer. There are several features in the A/C, lighting, and remote locking that can also be customized to your preferences. This document shows what features can be changed and their default settings:

Not arrived yet, I've just had a look through all the junk/spam type folders, nothing there either, is it showing in your "Sent" folder? Apologies, I hate putting folk to any trouble and this is probably a right PITA!

In fact I'll go and have another go at the dealers this coming week, trouble is the dealers main place is in Cartagena but my car came from their sub branch in San Javier and the salesmen seem to wander between the two on a random basis so you can never catch the bugger that speaks English.

My mate tried to get a manual in English (for his Spanish bought car) from a UK dealer, the dealer wanted the VIN and when he saw it refused to supply a handbook because the cars we get are different spec to UK ones and the handbooks are different, well the last bit is certainly right, I can't read my bugger coz it's in Spanish! :crybaby:

Cheers mate it all seems to have arrived, trust it didn't cause you too much bother

Wasn't it considerate to include a French translation too, as in

Tendez la sangle diagonale de sorte qu'elle couvre complètement l'épaule, sans entrer en contact avec le cou

ou glisser de l'épaule.

Now, I just need to figure out the best way to reassemble it into a book on me Kindle!

I was just thinking there, aint it great when you get it right by accident

When I got the RAV I was thinking "WTF's them lugs for inside the back door, I bet there's a bar or a net or summat made to fit on those" being none the wiser they looked handy to hang the carrier bags from the supermarket on until I found out better.

Pah, that's a nothing...........

From reading the manual it seems out cousins across the pond have satellite radio! I'm dying to get back to the UK in a fortnights time, if only to see if the "DAB" wossname works - how weird is that, these folk sell a car, with a radio, with a button marked "DAB" in a country without DAB radio - I bet your typical Spanish RAV4 buyer looks at that and says "DAB, does this %$(in' thing play video too" and "very strange this DAB button, I wonder what he's meant to do"

Coz there's buttons on my wireless that I have no idea what they do! And I'd not noticed the red buttons on the door catches, in fact I wondered why they were fitted as there's a button on the drivers door to lock the lot at one go.

But that little cubby hole by the front roof light is a perfect fit for your CS gas spray but that's not mentioned in the handbook either, funny old lot these Japanese!

And it was great that the Toyota mechanic diagnosed that the faulty lights (on all the time) was caused by my baseball cap sliding over the light sensor thingy!

Fabulous vehicle

Ta for that James, any idea if the use something like a laptop to effect the changes or is it pressing strange combinations of buttons type adjustment?

The only ones I'd change is the nagging beeper when you don't wear a seatbelt and the recirc turning itself on, oh, and the bonging noise when the key is in the ignition and the door open :(

I wonder what a DAB module does, I'm guessing it makes the radio receive DAB broadcasts

I think mine has the later model wireless with the 6 record playing gramophone, it has DAB, well, it has a button marked AM-DAB but there's no DAB broadcasts here, so I was just wondering why Toyota in their infinite wisdom would fit such advanced stuff to vehicles for sale in a peasant market such as this

And it has buttons marked with such exotica as "AST", "TEXT", "AF", "TA" and "PTY" and the "Tune-File" knob, no problem with the "Tune" part, but "File"? Some sort of directory structure? The car talks to me phone via blewteeth and stuff on the displays make me think the radio can (or should) store phone numbers, maybe texts too but I'm buggered if I can figure it out, unfortunately our cousins across the pond have a very different radio fitted. I can feel a visit to a UK Toyota dealer coming on :crybaby:

Your car has an excellent bluetooth phone kit installed and you work it from the steering wheel controls - you just need to pair your phone with it.

You can also play discs with MP3s in multiple layered files. Those instructions I sent you should work.
