Sat Nav Help Update Needed

Hi all, this is my first post on here.

I have recently bought an 07 plate avensis t180 but the software disc in the satnav is still the 2007 version. I have contacted toyota and they gave me the web address for their software retailer but it was about 130 euros for the update, which being honest is more than i am willing to pay.

Does anyone know of a reliable retailer that does the sat nav updates at a reduced rate? Google has thrown up a few answers but looking at the web sites i don't necessarily feel like they are anything more than cheap copies of software rather than more legit stuff.

Any help would be much appreciated

That update website is the only legitimate site to do the update discs, and yes they are expensive I'm afraid

cheers guys, that less legit way of doing things looks like a major ball ache to get right so i don't know, might give it a go but the foreign guy on there is making the thread really confusing to follow lol.

Is there any less legit pay sites where you can buy the discs from, but ones that have a reputation for being reliable copies as opposed to hit and miss as to whether they will work or not?

i looked at them, just wasn't sure how legit they are as a company etc, anyone had any dealings with them one way or the other?

To be honest i would not update to a new disc for at least 5 years, i fell for the updated disc and found very little differance on the disc to the one i had and i will buy a tom tom next time much cheaper option.

Pm me if you need a DVD (2010) much cheaper than these website. I have only one, not selling it for profit, it is just sitting there for nothing.

Awww... Never mind mate. Thanks anyway. I've just bought the 4 disc set(E11) so that will have to do for a bit. I see that the E13 is now out there

I've a TNS700 colour tw*t-nav in my Avensis with (IIRC) 2007-ish DVD..

Wondered about paying Mr T £££ for an update then figured I hardly ever see a difference on the maps when driving anywhere (eg I do where lights have replaced a roundabout on the way to Glasgow IKEA..but that's the only one I can recall ) and with smartphones having very-very current GPS/Navigation these days if I ever need it then I've Google-Maps for-free on my Android.

So, s*d the upgrade Mr T, I'll stick with my old disks and rely on my (free) backup for if&when I ever need it (which since it also gets current road-traffic conditions gives me a much more accurate arrival time anyway.. plus finds petrol stations, allows satelitte-imagery of the local countryside etc etc etc etc etc... ). If you've shares in TomTom, sell 'em!!

The advantage the built-in unit has though is knowing-where-you-are-on-switch-on & when it can't "see" the GPS satellites (thanks to in-built gyro-compass & knowledge of current speed) plus bigger, easier-no-read screen, and it don't need an InterNet link if the Map-area you need ain't cached...

Cheers!

right all, disc arrived today from Sam, it hasn't worked in my car, went through the loading process but when it came to then working as a mapping disc it didn't work. Now whether this is just an incompatability with my car or whether it is a wonky disc i hae no idea, i paid Sam 15 quid including postage for the disc so if anyone wants to have a punt at seeing if it works for them then i am happy enough to sell for that price (including postage) too. Just be aware that it might or might not work for definite.

Likewise if anyone knows of this as being a common error that can be gotten round easily enough i am happy to have a punt at that too

Sorry mate for any inconvenience. The disc worked in my friends car. Try the resetting method which I told you. Also lets see what other experienced when they updated their DVD's.

If it still doesnt work, return it to me and will refund you money.

Cheers.

Since the introduction of the sat nav update website, we are no longer issued with any info on sat nav at all

If you go to the sat nav update website, put in the part number of the disc you have, you can find out what the new features will be ;)

  • 2 months later...

Give me a shout if you are still looking for sat nav maps.... My mate can get just about all of them.

I've just bought a 2004 T Spirit, it had the old 2004 maps, now it has the 2008\2009 ones installed. Mines is the TNS 310 but I'm pretty sure he could get different versions.

Cheers,

Colin. :yahoo:

I have been wondering if You can put the discs from a later model Avensis into an older model (if You know what I mean).

I have a X plate (2000) 1.8 GS & My dad has the same car but on a 52 Plate (2002), We both want to get a more up-to-date version & I had the idea of getting the SAT NAV discs from a car in a breakers Yard, Say for instance a, 57 Plate car (2007), But I want to know If Im going to be wasting My money If they are not compatable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Aaron.
