2005 Celica Gen 7 140Bhp Buying Advice

Hi all,

I'm going to have a look at a 2005 Celica tomorrow for my girlfriend.. looking for some advice on what to look out for..??

It's got 63k miles and full service history..

Should I be looking at any things that would generally need changing around this mileage?

Am I right in thinking they are chain run so no cambelt to worry about?

I know the usual things to check that you'd check with any car but are they common problems specific to Celicas of this age and mileage?

I've driven a couple recently and whether they've had mileage of 40k or 80k they seem to feel solid and drive pretty much the same so I'm impressed so far (being a BMW man that's not easy to admit :D lol!)

Thanks in advance,

Mike

In the service history, check that it's had a proper 60k service, as its a bit one where all the fluids get changed.

As its a facelift, you do not need to worry about the oil issue that the preface has. Check for any water in the boot area, as that is a sign that the seal on one/both of the light clusters have gone. It's a cheap easy fix.

Other than that they are pretty good. The stock brakes are a bit naff to be honest on both the 140's & 190's, so I'd go for some better ones when they need changing if I was you.
