Why does this forum seem to attract so much SPAM lately?

In the last 2 days i've reported at least 4 posts that are plain gibberish and contain hyperlinks, and i've reported far more in the last few weeks.

Surely there must be a way where the members could click a SPAM button, and the offender has their posting rights removed until a MOD has checked their profile and posts to see if they are genuinely spamming?

Its getting daft now, and with the increased reports of virus pop ups appearing on this site, the enjoyment of using the forum is turning into hassle.

The only option is to keep reporting these.

If there was the option for members to report people as spammers and remove their posting rights for a while..... poor Raistlin would no longer be able to post.... hmm....

There must be a way of coding a block on new members posting hyperlinks, or maybe having to enter a 'captcha' on their first 10 posts?

This would at least slow down the amount of SPAM hitting the forum before the reported post gets dealt with.

Surely the obvious is to make everyone moderators, and then leave the existing moderators to actually post proper topics as they, of course, are the only ones who don't write drivel. :shutit: :shutit:
