Outside Air Thermostat

Hi

Does anyone know where the outside air temp thermostat is located? Mine has been blank since I bought the car 9 months ago, however after visiting a car wish it came on for about 10 mins showing -30c (it wasn't that cold) before going off again. This makes me think its just the connection needs cleaning. I thought I had found it attached to the front of the rad, but I doubt they would locate it next to a source of heat like that.

PS Its a 2002 GS model.

the outside temp sensor on my auris is along side the front of the rad,it can be seen through the grill.

so would expect it will be i a simuler place on the avensis.

The ambient air temperature sensor is behind the front bumper just below the Toyota Badge.

investigate the area behind the grill -- you'll see a pin type sensor with its signal wire.

hello mate

time to time one'd clean it enebling it to pass an accurate temperature to the ECU.

FYI - the ECU thinks how to govern the throttle valve (belong to A/C system)to reach desired temperature in the cabin fastly. Cheers/Igor

If you have climate control unit, then its located at the top your dashboard near the windscreen.
