New Yaris T Spirit, Power Steering?

Hi everyone. I think i have just made a huge error in ordering new yaris T spirit 1.33. After checking Toyota uk website, it would appear upper specs i.e. T spirit and SR don't have electronic power steering when T2 and TR models do? Is this a mistake, dealer informs me that it does. Anyone purchased one of these cars recently? Was the steering heavy?

if the dealer says it has, why are you doubting them.thought all later toyota are electric power steering.

Because on his own website and toyota website it said otherwise. I also thought that all later toyotas had power steering.

if he asks at the dealers service dept,i am sure the workshop staff would be the ones to advise.where sales staff are not 'hands on' only know what they read.

He's right - the internet has "speed sensitive electric power steering" standard on T2 & TR but not available on SR & T Spirit.

However they definately will have power steering. All Yarii have had power steering fitted as standard to all models since about 2001. They're not going to drop it off now...

Either its a mistake, or the SR & T Spirit have a different sort of power steering.

On Audis, some models in the same range have electric power assistance and some hydraulic. Equally some have speed sensitive power assistance and some have non-speed sensitive assistance.

So either they have introduced a different type of power assistance for the SR & T Spirit or its a mistake.

Either way, it will have power assistance and in theory, whatever it has will be the same or better in those models as they are further up the range...

Thanks AlfieJTS, I hope you are right. One would hope it had some form of power steering on a high spec car like this. After some early problems with my last yaris, I was very happy with it:I clocked up some star ship miles on it without any breakdowns (118k!)

Maybe I should have kept it. If anyone else knows about the power steering issue I would be most grateful. Thankyou for your posts guys.

If you download the eBrochure, it shows that Electric Power Steering is standard across the range on all four trim levels....

thanks, yes , I saw that earlier: It has some disclaimer listed at the end. I hope this one is correct.

I have just taken delivery of the Yaris T Spirit and I can assure you it has excellent electric power steering. It is light and positive and if anything better than the previous Yaris I had. You have absolutely nothing to worry about but if you still have a doubt ask for a drive in a new demo model. There was no question of specifying power steering, it is just part of the package.

Thanks Newsboy. Spoke to my very charming toyota dealer this morning: he says it must be a mistake on toyota website.

I have had my Yaris T Spirit for 2 weeks and the power steering is excellent, and guess what I came from a Jaguar Sovereign 4.0L 2001 to my Yaris to save 1000s of £ on road tax services repairs and of course petrol, missing my jag a little but the next 3 years should tell the story............

Hi everyone, just heard back from Toyota uk and there is an error on their website: thay confirm that the yaris t spirit does have power steering. Thank you for your posts. I hope this car is as good as the last Yaris which did over 118k without any problems.
