4Wd Warning Light ?

Hello (T180 2007) (55k)

Anyone know anything about 4WD warning lights ?

Travelling back from Scotland and suddenly 4WD warning light came on, and then engine management system light. Tried the Diff lock and noticed that didn't work.

If anyone could help that would be great, am thinking it might be a costly trip to Toyota ! :o

Thank you

Ive had something similar before, happend once. 4WD light, power steering light and air bag light all came on.I stopped the car, waited 5 minutes, restarted and everything was fine.I put it down to some "glitch". Maybe the ecu having a moment.!! It has never happend again.

Clean the EGR as shown in the pinned section.

Warning lights went off and now back on again!

Comes up :

VSC System Check

Engine System Check

4WD System Check

Had the EGR cleaned at the garage only a few months ago.

The only different thing that I have done is used some fuel additive (think it was Millers).

Still unhappy with MPG - the new Range Rover does more than the T180

Thanks for your help

It will have stored a code. 0400 is the EGR even if it was cleaned. Get the code and let us know.

Visited Toyota this morning who kindly did not charge me for their investigations !

They eventually found that it was the Catalytic Converter or did they say Catalyst ?? Oh well, Error Code P2002.

They said I would have to book it in so they could pinpoint the problem.

Any advice appreciated. Thank You

When I first had the T180 I had the Cat changed under warranty with the same error code. I think it is a modified Cat with a different bore pipe or something. Hope you have warranty as it could be expensive to replace.

They may well change it even out of wrranty but if they try to charge ask them to consider it as a policy warranty claim.

PLEASE - a range rover that works ------ stretching the old imagination a bit there...

I'm still waiting for the return of my landrover which has been in a garage for 3 years for an engine swap !!!! Some guy from "Tayside" who claims he's a LR speciallyist???? Must beat a few records.. so we're about to begin legal action

Can hardly claim landrover cos its a 1963 model. !!!

:crybaby: Oh no ! I hope its not an expensive do ! Whats approx figure are we talking about?

Would this affect the MPG, the average I get is 28.6 and thinking of getting rid, sure there most me a more economical 4x4 out there!

Its a 2007, would the policy warranty claim be possible?

Okay bothwell_buyer , I don't know my 4x4's !

Am having to book it in with them for the day (better start saving !)

Thanks for your help by the way.

You are starting with the wrong attitude. You need to find out what it needs but tell them not to start without your authority. When they tell you you ask them to do it as a policy warranty claim (you can moot this when you drop it off with them). They can and do mend these at no cost to the owner so you have to dig in a little but don't come across as curt or rude at any time. Polite and firm is the order of the day.

Many Thanks, booking it on pay day - just in case !

I have noticed the warning light always goes off when I fill up ?

Polite and firm I like it , I work for a bank and seem to be using that most days! ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

Well Many Thanks for your help.

Ive been in to Toyota and they have re-generated the catalyst, apparently they have had quite a few Toyota's starting with the same problem and this usually does the trick ! Picked it up this morning and "touch wood" seems fine.....yay!

They charged for 1 hours labour and had it in for a full day. Said to also come back after a 1000 miles so they can check the oil.

They were very helpful.

They have told me to drive it in high revs and take it for a motorway run every now and again.

If it happens again they said it will be a faulty Catalyst and they could look at doing it on a policy warranty claim. Apparently the T180's catalyst is part of the exhaust system and not easy to access.

I hope this helps someone with similiar problems.

Good result. The cat is the first thing the exhaust passes through on the way out of the engine. It helps to clean up the emmissions.
