Year Of Manufacture

Hello all,

I have an Avensis with vin SB153ABN10E068381. Can anybody tell me the year of manufacture and how is it identified from the vin. I have done some research and have been told its the 10th figure or letter but in this case its 0 which does not give any particular year.

I tried this with mine too - and came to the same result, seems that Toyota dont follow the standard for VIN numbers, and most info online seems to relate to the American market, not the British one - one thing is certain though - the first letter "S" says its built in England. "J" as Japan and "V" is France etc. The last 7 digits I think are the serial number for the car, and the 9th digit is a check digit, but as you say, I couldnt work out the age identifier either on my Yaris.
