Hi

I have a celica gen 7 1.8 vvti 140 and it over revs when u turn the engine on and takes a while to settle. Also revs nearly cut off whilst in traffic on the motor way. Just wandering if anyone has had a similar problem?

Thanks

Have you checked the following:

Plug condition

MAF cleaness

Air Filter cleaness

I'd say clean your plugs, air filter & MAF. Then reset the ECU. If it's still doing it, then it will probably be a sensor.

All very easy. Take the spark plugs out to see what condition they are in. If it helps, print something off the web that explains plug condition. If they are in a good condition, then give them a clean.

The Air filter, again just take it out and give it a good bash against your hand to clear any crap out.

The Maf needs to be clean very carefully. Use a cotton bud & some WD40, then very gently rub over the sensor.

Once you've done that, reset the ECU and see how she runs.

If it's still playing up, then it's going to be one of the O2 sensors in the exhaust (1 before & 1 after the CAT).
