Hi well firstly you dont give much info / but if you have only recently acquired the car and if the engine is not burning oil then you should try keeping to the oil that its happy running on If there are any service reciepts look at the last one before you owned it and try contact the garage that serviced the car and ask what oil they used? They usually buy their oil in bulk and should easily be able to give you an idea anyway even if they cant give details on your car they had in??

But if the car is burning oil dont bother going to the expense of buying a fancy synthectic oil just use a straight multigrade 15 / 40 or 20 / 50 oil >>>

If you cant find out the above but the engine is fine any semi synthectic oil 15 / 40 or even the straight multigrade oil is fine for an old mans type car that probably most of the time these days the way we all creep behind one another along a long line of traffic with the engine never going over 3000 revs there really isnt any need for all these fancy oils being used!!

I changed engine oil to Mobil 1 ESP in a 2004 Corolla and glad to report that based on 3,000 miles, fuel consumption has improved by nearly 5 mpg.

It costs more but better mpg might make up for it. Do your own maths.

Many more advantages such as reduced wear etc are claimed by Mobil

Mobil 1 ESP

If you click on this link if it is live or copy in to your scroll bar Mobil gives you the option of what they recommend for ones car and when i did it for a carina e it came up with 10 / 40 I think one has to weigh up what mileage and is your car burning oil like i have previously stated Very interested if Mobil 1 does infact increase MPG??!
