Putting Toyota Insurance To The Test

Mrs. Monya had a contretemps with some electronic gates 2 weeks ago resulting in bodywork damage + a few dents.

So was interested in how smoothly the insurance would go compared to the last claim which was with Saga.

Phoned claims line with immediate response, outlined incident and was told the local dealer would phone next working day.

They did, by 10am asking me to bring it in for photos. Did that and within 48 hrs had another call confirming authorisation and to fix an appointment for hand in + loan car.Did this today and so far so good

Am now driving an Aygo automatic thingy.

I had an Aygo automatic loaner last year. It was dreadful. Before I drove off, the service manager said whatever you do, don't try to nip out in front of traffic because as you pull away, the car will decide to change gear. Sure enough, pulling out of the garage, broadside on to the oncoming traffic, instead of revving up and pulling away, it paused and went through a slow gear change then lumbered off.

There is a nack, try slightly lifting off the throttle as you want to change gear, makes it all a bit smoother

Toyota insurance did get a bit of a shake up recently, but one thing it has always been good at is customer service

Kingo

Got the Auris back an hour ago looking fine, handed back the Aygo auto thank goodness for that.

Must say I've been impressed with Toyota insurance - you never know till they're put to the test. Approachable friendly staff dealt with the issue efficiently. Well done Toyota. Would recommend them

Driving this Aygo auto is OMG. There must be a knack to it :help:

 there is! if you are too gentle it will go from 1 to 2 at around 5 mph - no good at roundabouts or coming out of side roads.... you have to be a little brutal in first and then lift your foot slightly - this will give you a quick change - the option of course is to use the wiggly thing in the middle of the car, lift your foot, give the wiggly thing a nudge backwards and wow - quick change into 2 3 4 etc...

going down the box is fine except for changing from 2 to 1 - seems to have a mind of its own on that one, so I give it a nudge to make sure... the wife just leaves it in E and let's it do its own thing!

The trick seems to be: "Drive it in manual mode"

I have vented into many threads on how much I despise the MMT's auto mode

I must admit I never thought of driving it in manual mode until some guy mentioned that's the ONLY way he uses it (So sorry! Can't remember your handle! )
