Possible Purchase Auris 1.4 T3

Hi

Currently have a Rav4 2.0 NRG Auto on an 03 Plate

been a great Car, but road Tax is due and it's starting to hurt with price Petrol is at the moment

SO we've had a look around. and came across an Auris 1.4 T3 on an 07 plate one owner 26000 miles

we would have to px the Rav to purchase the Auris which is priced at £6288. We had a test drive Car seemed fine

just worried it might be a little underpowered with the 1.4 engine. We don't do a lot of miles. Wife would be using it

to go to work mostly. Short journey less than 4 miles occasional trip down the Motorway.

Anyone give me some advice for or against

Regards

Ian

Nothing wrong with the 1.4 engine, worked well for me when I had the Corolla. Shouldn't be a problem, it's not as if you are doing a lot heavy m/way driving. Go for it

Hi Bruce

Thanks for the reply

So would this be the same engine as was in the Corolla ?

If it is that would be good as I'm thinking if it's been around for a while

it should have any problems ironed out.

Looks like well be picking the Car up tomorrow or Friday. Will Post back when

weve had it a while.

Thanks again

Ian

Have the exact same engine in my car and think its great! very good economy at around 45 - 65mph, drops dramatically after 75mph as you say it is fairly small powered engine for the size of the car and a sixth gear would help alot!

Just look out for a loud ticking noise from the engine, I had this and my cam followers were worn out completely, Had it replaced under warranty thankfully :)

Dont mistake this for the quiter ticking sound. This is normal of VVTI engines as they have pretty loud injectors and they are chain driven.

If you need anything else just ask!

Hi Adam

Thanks for the Reply

Interesting to hear about the Cam followers. Will keep an ear out for any untoward noise

Had the Rav with the VVTi Engine. Always chnged Oil & Filter every 6 Months. That sounded OK when

It went in yesterday for the PX. think their sending it to Auction. Hope it goes to a good home

Was a great Car just getting to heavy on Fuel & Tax.

Picked the Auris up yesterday afternoon, been driving around last night noticed it's drifting a little to the left on straight roads. Checked Tyre Pressures they seemed fine at the front. So thinking alighnment may be out.

Lot of Potholes in Glasgow

So taking it back today to get that looked at. Car was MOT'd by the Dealer. Must have missed drivers windscreen wiper cause the Rubbers hanging off. had a Service Not changed Air filter.

Not that impressed with Arnold Clark but that's Par for the course with them.

Anyway rest of the car's Ok seems to be enough Power from the 1.4 was surprisd how nippy it was in town.

One thing as the Car's an 07 Plate I beleive it's no longer under warranty from Toyota.

And as i wouldn't touch a warranty from Arnold Clark. are their any warranty people worth looking at?

Regards

Ian

My warranty was not from toyota either, I had mine done through warrantydirect, They quoted me £200 for a yearly quote and Im so glad i took it out! They even replace wear and tear items for free if your car is undder 5 years old! My link rod got replaced, my suspension arms and my expensive engine repairs were done free of charge. Give them a go! they wont let you down.

Oh and definitely get the air filter changed, If possible put just a standard K&n filter in, You will get about 1 - 2 mpg more on average and a bit more lower down response but The power side might just be me

could someone elaborate on this ticking noise/cam followers? thing. i've noticed a ticking noise from mine but just thot it was the car cooling. anyway as for my thots on the car killie-had mine six month and without going on i'll just say i'm fairly happy with the car. i have an 09 - 15000 get rnd40mpg and if i get 3yrs driving without a thump in the pocket i'd be more than happy. good luck

Hi

Had the car back in to A/C yesterday morning.. They have booked it in next Friday to have the alignment checked. Reading some of the threads on the Forum it may be the tyres

Their Continental Sport look fairly new ,might just need swapping around .

got them to replace the wiper drivers side. And top up the Brake Fluid. air filter they wouldn't do. As it was only standard service their words.

not to worried about that as will a Full Service myself in about a Month from now. will replace the Cabin Filter if needed .

haven't decided which warranty to go for yet the all seem to have their merits. warranty Direct seem like a good buy. will try and find some reviews on them

getting used to the Car liking it a lot MPG is very good compared to the Rav mind you that was a 2.0 litre auto.

thanks again for all the replies

I was very concered about this when I had my car, but it is normal if it is just audible when at complete idle. If it is louder and can be heard from very far away and increases with the revs then you might have the problem I did, which was worn cam followers.

Hi

Quick question regarding the Clutch

does anyone find that it's a bit on he heavy side ?

also the bite point seems a little high. Not sure if this is the norm or if their's a bit

of Wear & Tear. I think I might take it in to a Toyota Dealer to see whatt they think.
