Freetronic Problem

I bought a yaris freetronic last year and have been very happy with it until recently. My engine management light came on and the nice man from the AA told me that the engine got starved of fuel. A week later the freetronic light has come on and I have been advised to stop driving it, but so far the diagnostic machines that have been used have not beenm able to communicate with the freetronic problem or something like that (I'm not the most technical of people) Is it possible that the 2 incidents are related?

Tried all the usual things like unhooking the Battery and driving it ound the block to see if the light goes out, I just want to get my car back on the road, so if anyone can shed any light at all I would really appreciate it
