Good Day,

I just bought an avensis 2005, automatic/tiptronic, 2.0 Gasoline, 16 valvs

The car is extremely comfortable, but has like zero options.

I would like to know if the following can be installed after-market:

1) Cruise Control (I read that it might be possible in another thread)

2) OnBoard Computer

3) Tires Air Monitoring System

4) GPS (i just saw they sell it aftermarket, I doubt i will have local maps from Dominican Republic)

5) I wanted electric seats, but i guess that would require to chenge the seats itself

6) Remote Door/Trunk Locking/Opening

Is there anything else i can put aftermarket? maybe sun roof (doubt it)?

Thanks,

Dan.-

Non taken.

Sorry, i guess i forgot to mention that i bought it used (2005) from a lady who only put 50k Kilometers on it, at a very nice price (locally anyways).

She needed the money, i needed the car.

That is why i'm looking to complete the features that i find useful the most (Cruise Control being #1)

for GPS just buy a tomTom or Garmin.

It will be cheaper & better.

& I'm surprised that it doesn't have central locking - that's been pretty much standard on mid-level cars in the UK for a long time.

I was looking at this one: http://goo.gl/aLjQ7

Liked because it had read camera and parking beep

This one: http://goo.gl/8mqrk

Have all above, plus BT sync with Phone, Tire Pressure system and night vision camera.

Also, the car doesn't have steering wheel Audio Controls, but has the place to put it. Would be nice to have those.

Are you sure that the car has no 2) OnBoard Computer.

For the GPS system, go for those that have good maps for your region.

Regarding the cruise control and the steering wheel Audio Controls. If the car has the ECU tuned to have those features it's plug and play deal. Just find the corresponding parts.

The remote door opening could be done by any car alarm specialist.

If you are looking for an electric seats, do look for one that have heating.

The only problem will be the sun roof. It's a tricky job and there is no turning back.

I don't have any type of display on the car. It's just plain plain. I'm doing some minor fixes on my old Corolla 2002 to sell it, and after that i'll try to install onboard computer.

As per GPS, i'm still looking if someone has maps for the Dominican Republic, but haven't done much research yet.

I have no clue about if the ECU is tuned for that, but thanks for the tip. I'll ask taking that into consideration.

About the remote door, i guess i'll do that. I wanted the key encryption feature, but i was told that it required major change on the car computer to implement that.

Now that i think of, electric seats will require an actual change of the seats. And about the heating, this is a tropical country. Heating is NEVER needed on a car :-)

Thanks A LOT for your input!

Thanks for the input! I was really tempted :-)

I usually buy Kenwood eXcelon line products, but since this were specially design (or so they say) for the avensis, i was wondering if they were any good.

Now i'll have to find a radio that will also show reverse cameras on it.

Thanks a lot for the info man!

I added electric leather seats to my car. Got them from a scrap yard, and had a local auto electrician fit them for me. Very easily done seemingly.

You got them from another Avensis?

Avensis in this country is quite rare. I doubt we have Avensis on scrap yards here. I've only seen like 2 another avensis 2005 on the streets.
