Automatic Gearbox Problems

I'm hoping somebody might be able to help.

I bought a 2005 3litre Landcruizer Prado 6 months ago. It has an automatic gearbox and it bumps into 2 and 1st gear when you slow down. Recently it also hasnt been going into 5th gear either. The engine light comes on and this problems only happens from time to time. It will be fine for a few weeks and then it starts playing up again.

I've had the gearbox serviced and there is no problem there, I'm told solonoids or the electronic control board might be the problem.

I had a 97 Colarado which after the engine warmed up decided not to change into top gear. Umpteen visits to the Toyota dealer only fixed it for a day or so. Ended up selling it. had 3 Autos since no problems.1 has done 203000 miles and lots of heavy towing.

You need to go to a auto specialist cheaper to fix it now later than later these problems dont go away and could do more damage left alone. Main dealers dont know much about fixing auto's so dont go there or any other normal garages. Wrong oil used to service the auto box or one litre to much or to little will mess up the auto box in time to come.Had you a complete box flush and filter cleaned and right oil spec amount fitted and was it a auto garage? it could be a fualty solonoid or something small fix it soon is the way to go.... let us know how you get on....
