Well it's that time of year again, insurance renewal has gone up another £60 and I can't find it any cheaper on any comparison sites :crybaby: That's with Aviva by the way. Anyone know of any cheap companies this year ? You normally find that one seems to discount well it's just finding it

I'm with Toyota Insurance and renewed at the beginning of March; don't think the premium went up from last year. I found it to be good value.

cheapest I have found for last few years is the company that uses Iggy Pop to advertise. Cant remember their name but they were a hell of a lot cheaper than anyone else

that would be Swiftcover.

When comparing prices just make sure that you are comparing like cover for like cover.

Royal Bank of Scotland are having to sell their insurance companies next year...... so

Direct Line are discounting just now

And I think Admiral and is it Elephant are also dropping prices ??

I was with Saga with the Previa and they wanted £420 on renewal.... and Admiral matched the policy at a price of £220.

Have to say, I found Admiral very competetive last year when sorting my daughter's insurance. With an agreement to move to a multi car policy this year, they quoted guaranteed prices for this year that were lower than we had paid for wife's Golf and my RAV the previous year.

Yeah, I've wondered about that, how does it work with NCB's, is it actually cheaper than two separate policies?

This is our 2nd year with LV as they were very reasonable on our X-Trail, the only added a few quid to the policy when we got the T180 and were the cheapest by a long way (£400+ cheaper!!) than the next company on the T180 when it was time to renew.

Also, I looked in to these multi car policies and they are probably great if you both have a 1 litre motor each or are over 60 - no disrespect to any one in those groups :D

But, as the wife and I both like some thing with a bit of oomph when you put your foot down it works out cheaper for us with 2 separate policies with each of us named on the other ones policy.

Well, certainly don't fit into that group

All well under 60, Wife has 1600 Golf, I have 2.2 RAV and daughter [20] has 1600 SportKA.

Son [17] named on KA as are wife and myself. I'm named on policy for wife's Golf and she's named on the RAV.

All comprehensive and still a lot cheaper than separate policies for each car.

Strangely, when son put on policy for KA, premium went down and yet, statistically he is the highest risk

Sounds like a line from Ann Robinson

Insurance is a lottery based on so many factors, there is not one company who have the cheapest deals, you will always need to shop around. Toyota insurance is competitive for the amount of cover you get but just like any other company, there will be clients they want, the ones they don't want will be hit with a high premium, it's the way they all work.

Kingo

That's the thing with insurance, just because one company is good for your mate doesn't mean it will be any good for you as there are so many factors to consider as Kingo has stated.

Admiral wanted a touch over £1600 for a multi car policy for the wife and I.

I have them both insured separately for £900 fully comp, protected NCB, legal cover, etc, etc, where as for some one else a multi car policy will be the best thing since sliced bread.

Quite frankly, I am of the opinion that they will charge what they think they can get away with.

Totally agree, just had the same experience with home insurance - renewal came in nearly double what is was last year, when I phoned up to challenge it they were magically able to return it to what is was last year bar a few quid. If I had just left it renew I would have been totally screwed over by them.

dav is right. I was with swinton for quite some time, averaged around £340 a year insurance. However, in the space of a year, and I have never claimed it shot up to over £1000. No explanation given. They tried to keep my custom, but others were cheaper. All fo a sudden they could give all sorts of discounts, but they still couldn't be really cheap.

AA full, I pay £338 a year.

I would also add, beware of some comparison sites. Take a gander at who actually controls some of them. Admiral I think own a well known one. Could be given off some false numbers, who knows.

Isn't Elephant part of the admiral group, along with diamond etc. I think they have several.

When comparing prices just make sure that you are comparing like cover for like cover.

You need to be careful with them too - they activate an automatic renewal unless you specifically tell them you do not want it - if it goes through it is a hell of a job to get the cash back again.

I normally try a fresh quote with the same company that I get the renewal from, it normally works out a bit cheaper but not this time strangely enough
