Key Not Working

Hi,

I have a 55 plate rav4, one key for which recently stopped working. I changed the Battery and the light on the key now works so there's obviously power in the key itself. However, the key will not de/activate the central locking, nor presumably the security system.

A bit of searching tells me I may need to reprogram the key to sync with the car (ECU?) but having tried various convoluted sets of instructions the key resolutely refuses to work.

As Toyota want the best part of sixty quid to reprogram it I'm quite keen to sort this myself, as I'm pretty sure the correct spell can't be rocket science.

Can anyone help out?

TIA

A very warm welcome to this section of the foriiiii

I have ignored the possibility you might have a 5 door oil burning RAV.....

There have been posts in the past regarding the sync process for the thing but I haven't taken much notice as I have disconnected those outdated systems frae ma cars.

If you do a search for schm or anchorman or even big Kev who'll be standing in a large bucket practising his saloot fur the morros wedding, then they might know as they have or had those versions ....

I'd willingly wing my way doon tae Surrey but ah've some serious swallie tae dae ra morro.... (going for a wee drink tae celebrate as you ken.. we Scots dinna need a reason tae celebrate or hae a tea pairty in wur road.....)

The only one I know is to press and hold BOTH buttons until the indicators flash acknowledgement then it should work.
