had my auris serviced today ,and recd a call from the dealer when car was in, to advise me the water pump was leaking

at 3 years and one month old and 31k on the clock, i think this is very poor quality to say the least.

luckily its still under the used approved warranty until mid june ,so i didnt have to pay the £220

my last car was 8 years old with 83k on the clock when i traded it in for my auris, and it was still on its original water pump.i check the coolant weekly and havnt noticed a drop in the coolant level, so maybe you guys should check the water pumps on your cars before your warrantys are up just in case ? i wonder if toyota would have payed for this in 6 weeks when my warranty expires ?

Hi

It seems this is a common thing with the auris. i understand its to do with the design of the pump. Mine has the same issue in january. They advised me it was leaking but not to the extent its was dripping. Condensation was on the ourtside of the pump which isnt right. Mine was 9 months out of warranty and i just mention to the garage i was dissapointed and they fixed it free of charge. I was over the moon. 2 days later the power steering ECU went which i was told £500. I didnt even have to say anything this time they just advised they were going to fix it free of charge. I cant fault toyota at all it was amaazing what they did for me. Mind you its my 3rd one now. My advised is dont bother with extended warranty lol.

Only kidding

All water pumps leak. They have to to keep the seals lubed up. It should only be a small amount though. It's just that the coolant in this case is that neon pink colour so very noticable.

If all you see is the crystalised stuff on the pump and the water level isn't going down then ignore it

If theres stuff visibly dripping out/being chucked around the engine bay by the pulley and the level is dropping probably is a problem and needs changing
