You enjoy that car, chap, and take no notice of curmudgeonly souls from north of the border who feel inferior cos your car has more doors than theirs :-)) Our Bothy is only conforming to national stereotyping by being too careful with cash to pay for 5 doors when 3 will do ;-)

Me, I like 5 door versions cos I can still chuck stuff in the back when some inconsiderate numpty has parked so close that I can't get the back door open properly. I also like my cars to have the right number of wheels. Four just is not enough on a cold wet windy and dark Dartmoor night when you discover that only three are still inflated. A nice butch 4x4 with just a camp hairdresser's spray can in the boot just doesn't do it for me.

Congrats on that good looking RAV you have treated yourself to. Several folk on here can give you very good advice on keeping it as shiny as that using all sorts of patent potions that I have never heard of before. I don't worry too much about keeping a car mud free and shiny as seeing my reflection in its paintwork just reminds me of how old I'm looking/getting.

Stonking vehicular transport, Charlie, at a good price also too forbye. Now to upgrade the power....YE THINK IT'S NICE TO DRIVE NOW......? You'll need to get a rear bumper edge protector too, or the shrinkwrap one that some moderators prefer.....

Thanks Mate !! I'm heavily into detailing and have spent today claying the car and have made a start on the machine polishing to remove the swirl marks from the superb metallic paint !! I just cant help it I love polishing cars !! Truthfully its just plain OCD !! I have an array of kit including a paint thickness gauge so I can check the thickness of the paint and lacquer as I go ................Sad innit ...........

My car has runflats. The ride isn't as bad as I expected though in fact its pretty good !! But I will be fitting normal tyres soon..

Kev I managed to get a decent discount off the asking price.. I was comparing the price of this one to the stock at Western Toyota Edinburgh. It was a decent enough buy considering the spec and condition.

I was set to buy a 2006 one from Western Edinburgh.But despite having No PX there was apparently no discount to be had !! Not even a tank of fuel ! So I just walked out. Then found this one on Autotrader. It had only been on for a few hours.. Made a bid Sorted Job done ......

Wont be going for more power though Mate the other Banger takes care on that score. Might be interested if any of the remaps give decent MPG gains as I will do at least 20K miles in this car this Year..... Bumper edge protector ?? Definitely interested in that one.. Do You have a web link...

Chas...ebay....plastic film type (bloody heavy shrinkwrap to me).....360357957176.(saw fitted to Anchorman's and was a very unobtrusive add-on.)

Plastic Stick-On (personally preferred and fitted) 330523110206

Should you go with option one, first drop a PM to Parts King / Kingo hereon and get a price from him....he's out at Royal Thingy that happened today as they needed an old part qualified mechanic who knew about Aston Martins....then they told him it had been converted to Biofuel by Wills's Daddy, so he took along his chip pan.

If you are not an ardent fan or user of eBay, get me at nicefolk@btinternet.com

Thanks for that Kev !! Superb Mate ......

Just had a look. Option 2 looks best !! does it fit over the top of the existing Toyota one ??

Option 1 says 2005 model ? Which model is My one its an 06 plate ? Woman over the road has an 06 plate T5 And it looks a fair bit different to My one. It hasn't got the plastic parts round the wheel arches and I think it might be an earlier model ?? To be honest I havent a clue !!!

I've got this car as a car for towing the Jet Ski and for the bulk of Our mileage. One of those protectors would be ace as the kit gets chucked in the back.....

While were on the subject of protection. Her across the road has those big plastic / rubber things along the doors which look just the job for stopping ****ers from banging their doors into the side of the car......

This is the bumper protector you want;

Perfect fit (even moulded around the existing scuff plate), great quality and despite being aftermarket looks as if it was bought direct from Toyota. Here is a link to the bloke i bought from on eBay;

Red Ross has answered yer question on the bumper protector, Charlie. Just make sure you order the correct one for your year / model, which should be the link RR has sent you. There is another wan which is peculiar only to those which, very luckily, are in possession of a spare wheel on the back door going by memory.

They already come, or at least my Toyota discontinued one did, with 3M Double Sided Sticky Tape to apply, are dead easy to fit, and I would have no aversion to the judicious use of some Nae Merr Nails squirted under it for good measureness.

Mine would have suffered at the hands of golf bags if not fitted....

Big Kev :thumbsup:

Edit... RR LINK sez 2008 on ONLY....WILL IT FIT 2006?....Trust this to be Sunday, the only day Davrav always gets roarin' drunk.....just when ye need him.

Western in Edinburgh were the same with me.. Not interested in discussing prices. Fixed price, end of. I walked out and bought else where too.

Enjoy, :thumbsup:

Be careful, the one with the number plate in the bumper is a different depth to the one with the number plate on the back door. This was my stick on;

Cheers Mate. The Guy in Western was a decent Fella but of course He just has to go speak to His Manager ..... This approach really pisses Me of !! I had exactly the same silly game when I bought My other car at Stratstones..Needless to say I did not buy from them. On both occasions I just simply walked away. I'm old School if I sell My old car and have no PX I want something off. If I don't get at least something then away I go.

Stratstones wanted 70quid administration charge in addition to the screen price this is for the HPI check. Yet it is the Consumers legal right to demand /ask for an HPI certificate from any registered Garage / Business from them and it has to be supplied free of charge. It is their right to ask You to pay fot it but They can not demand payment and must still supply that certificate !!

The other factor is that unless You stump up just over 500 quid for an extended warranty You get only on Month !! Obviously the manufacturers warranty if still valid is still in place but this car of Mine is 5 Years old...

Dealers ?? F£ck Em......

I'm interested in one of these, that damn thing gets scratched far too easily - dogs, shopping, kid accessories and the wife. I'm always really careful (of course..)

I ended up getting mine from a dealer but in Northern Ireland. The list price was about £1000 less than equivalent in Edinburgh and I then negotiated a further £1000 off it! As it was a 2006 it was out of warranty but being from Toyota it comes with their 1 year manufacture's warranty! And to top it off I traded my Auris in with them and he gave me the going price on autotrader... It became a no brainer!

He shoots, he scores!
