Didn't want to get involved in this but IMO i cannot see a problem in skimming a bit off the faceplate, in the 70s we used to fit 6j by 10" wheels to our minis then 1 1/4" wheel spacers to push them out a bit, which meant we had to have stud adaptors to lengthen the wheel bolts + I don't recall anyones wheels falling off, just my opinion for what its worth + if anyones watched the American Chopper series those guys fabricate all kinds of things including a motor bike wheel made of welded together "snap on" spanners :unsure: Stew
