I had noticed that you had done the intake manifold in black in another thread and was debating between silver and black

Cheers Lozza!

Yeh the matte black goes on very easily and does look quite sporty so it was decent for what we were going for. I would keep what you've done thus far I like it, but maybe detailing with silver and black (gloss this time) with bits and pieces. It's really difficult to keep the balance, I am struggling with my GTi to get everything right and as I want it.

Progress today has been mainly on the engine bay but also had my new wheel nuts arrive so they have been put on too. I have continued to clean the engine bay and while doing this I have removed the airbox for painting and I have smoothed out the inside of the box. I have plans to tidy up the engine bay by moving the ballasts out of the way, a cover for the battery etc etc. Don't know what to do with the Toyota emblem and vvtl bit on the engine cover, contemplating red emblem and the lettering in silver???

what part of the airbox did you smooth? can't see any rough parts in there.

Well I have got my chrome indicator bulbs today, was going to put them in but unfortunately I managed to put an upturned screw attached to a piece of wood straight through my left foot, had to go and get it cleaned up and have the old tetanus injection, so the bulbs will now have to wait till the weekend :censor:

I am on copious amounts of liquid pain killers tonight.........purely for medicinal purposes

My Whiteline ARB arrived today :yahoo:

Just need to organise getting it fitted

Still haven't got the chrome indicator bulbs in yet is there an easy way to do it as it looks like a nightmare job?

Was afraid you would say that

Is it easy to remove it, ie can I do it on the driveway or do i need to get the car on ramps?

Remove the front bumper to change an indicator bulb? Sounds a bit s***. I could understand it on the passenger side with the Battery in the way but their should be enoughroom on the passenger side I would have thought?

Got any small kids with nimble fingers nearby that could try..?

Indicator bulbs will go in without removing the bumper, but it's a ball ache! Offside is worse with the abs pump in the way! Needle nose pliers are a big help!

Quick update without photos unfortunately.

My Whiteline ARB is now on and my god what a difference its made :o

The handling has tightened right up and virtually eliminated all of the roll that I had grown used to. Probably the single best mod I have done yet :yahoo:

Braces are te best mod to most cars I reckon, I had front, rear and a thicker ARB on the rear of my old car and it was unreal how mch better it felt!

What's next now then?

Well I have some tow hooks that should be here any day now so once they get here they will be my next project, rear one should be easy the front might well require a little more planning. Other than that I think it will be a case of tidying up the car ready for JAE next month

Was the rear ARB easy to fit? I see fensport have them in stock now, only a couple of clicks away from buying one!

Relatively easy to fit, tbh my mate did it but it is definately a DIY doable job in hindsight.

You might need a bar to give you a little 'extra' to un screw the bolts but it was all done in about half an hour........well worth it IMO
