just a couple of little problems i have got with the electrics of my car, and im wondering if anyone else has had the same?

1 when listening to the cd player it sometimes switches to the radio by its self, not often at all but maybe 2 - 3 times a week. and sometimes the radio station will just change to something else, much to the annoyance of my girlfriend when she is listening to her usual cr@p :)

2 when im running very low on fuel and im down to 0 miles left on the trip computer, ive found that if i only put say £5 diesel in then the range still shows 0 as if i haven't put any in. this can become annoying as ive no idea how long before i run out of fuel. then when i put £50 in the trip computer works fine again. sometimes im skint and can only put £5 - £10 in before payday and im scared ill run out as i dont know whats left in the tank

anyone got any similar problems/answers?

cheers

Answer to question 1, do you think you may be touching the buttons on the steering?

Answer to question 2, if you go on reserve and fill the tank with fiver, it may hardly fill the reserve and additional 2-3 liters. The fuel gauage will show the movement but computer may try to ignore it, as they are made to work full to empty tanks or reasonably filling (I guess 10 liters at least) to empty tank.

I hope that helps.

Radio: No idea. Sorry.

Fuel: This will hurt your pocket initially but can save you the cost of recovery at worst or buying a fuel can at best. Try to think of the 1/8th of a tank as empty and fill up when you get there. Running out of fuel is not only a pain in the bum but if you do it on a motorway I believe the cops can fine you (as the highway code says to ensure you have enough fuel for your journey) & then arrange recovery that you then have to pay for. If you can't afford to keep topping up at the 1/8th of a tank point then consider a 5 litre can of diesel in the boot as an emergency top up when you get really really low - but you must refil the fuel can once you have used it.

The radio may be switching over for traffic announcements. Try pressing the 'TA' button to turn it off.
