Is it worth replacing the gearbox drain bolt with a magnetic one or is the default one already magnetic?🧲 If so what size is it?

you can replace tires, oil, sparkplugs, break fluide .... filters add some fuel additives, dont touch the gear.

take care.

It is good practice to change the gear oil.  I usually do mine around 100k miles or 160k kilometres.

Thanks Oisin, Do you need to remove the left wheel to access the gearbox drain and fill bolts? Or just raise the vehicle enough and decent tools?

Hi Paul, you can access the fill bolt by removing the left wheel, but you really need to raise the whole car for an oil change as the car must be level when filling the oil to get an accurate oil level.  So either on a lift or on four axle stands.  I have linked a video below which explains well how to do the oil change.

Thanks. I tend to rest the front of the car on a 20%decline and then onto either ramps or pinch weld behind the front wheels onto hard stumps so I have enough under clearance whilst keeping the engine level for fluids

This image is from a YouTube of a Corolla gearbox oil change (2000-2008) and the person refills from this 10mm hex bolt point higher than the drain 24mm bolt, the one with the white sticker and refill notice on it. My 2006 Avensis also has this 10mm hex point and the other side 24mm nut. So which one can I use? The highest 10mm bolt like this image or the 24mm bolt, is there more than one refill point?

Update: task completed Yes, the waste oil absolutely stinks 🤮. And yes with a longer piping and funnel you can gravity refill it, only one plastic underneath removal required.
