Auris - Tilting Front Seats On 3Dr

Forgive me if there is another post addressing the same issue, I find no leads.

I have a 3dr Auris, wonderfully smooth and refined... very happy. Now having owned it for almost 6 months as a daily drive I have noticed only 1 or 2 niggles about my ride.

My main gripe, although petty is the returning of the front seats to their original position once they have been flicked forwards to allow someone to climb in the back. The damned thing slides ALL the way back to its further most setting, assuming you are 6'7" and at an angle making you feel like you are forced to look deep into the foot-well.

I'm not up for readjusting my driving position (or a decent sitting position as passenger) every time the seat is lifted forward. Why can't it go back to the way it was? Is there a fix for this? Has anyone else experienced this and does not like it?

A part from looking for a simple fix, I'm also playing with the idea of swapping the front seats with that of another model or make. I do like the originals, they are comfortable (and obviously match the interior). But If I 'was' to change them, they would still have to be those that flip forward and hopefully match/fit.

After visiting my friend who has a lovely 3dr Alfa 147, I was jealously tempted to nab the red leather front seats out of her car... but decided against it in the end.

Any ideas? Cheers xD

I have the 3dr version, and mine seem to be ok.

If i pull the lever and fold them forward, they always go back to the original position when i move them back, however they always feel a little loose and i need to shuffle around in them so they click back into place.

Its a bit annoying, but not an issue that i need to worry about often.

It's a very finicky system; I think you have to make sure the seat slides ALL the way forwards and then ALL the way back otherwise it doesn't 'remember' its original tilt position, but even then this doesn't always work.

The funny thing is they must know about this problem as they got around the problem in my Yaris making it so you can ONLY get into the rear seats by the passenger side!

I really want to swap mine for a 5 door, but 2nd hand Mk1 5-door D4D Yarisseses are still insanely expensive :crybaby: and the part-ex quotes I've had for my 3 door are frankly insulting

Have been ferrying a few people around recently, so back seats have been in regular use... should've got a 5dr lol! I've made it a rule, people getting in the back use the passenger side, but I still find the seats annoying. May be its a testament to the fact that, if that's the worse thing about my beloved Auris; it can't be all bad xD

Have been looking at Recaro Sport Treadline, plain black replacements... until I saw the prices! Almost as much as my old Mr2.
