Yaris Stalls, Lags Under Acceleration

2008 Toyota Yaris has been running fine until now. Engine runs OK 90% of time, but then either stalls or hunts around idle. On acceleration it sometimes doesn't kick in and revs are stuck below 1500 even with accelerator pushed down. Various internet forums report similar problems for the Yaris, but there is no definitive answer, suggestions are around the MAF and ECU. A recent end of warranty inspection (runs out in 3 weeks) by the selling dealer found nothing. Very frustrating and potentially dangerous in heavy traffic. Any clues?

Simple, take it back to Toyota and tell them to fix it before you end up paying a large bill later when your warranty has expired, if they can't find the fault get it in writing that you reported it whilst still in warranty.
