Gen 3 Safety Pack Not Compatible With Solar Roof

The UK dealers I contacted did not know this, until the point of placing an order.

The Safety Pack option, introduced the second half of last year, which includes the LED pack, pre-crash safety system and OEM heated leather seats, cannot be ordered for the UK with the Solar Roof Option.

When I checked this out with' Tideland Prius' who set up this thread on the Priuschat website to monitor the Gen 3 options in different countries, he was quite surprised as it is a combination that is apparently possible in Canada and Australia. From his understanding and information from 'Chief Engineer', he doesn't think the reason can be to do with weight or structural issues (unlike for the 17" alloys).

I found my conversation with dealers to be 'interesting'. They certainly try to persuade buyers away from making choices that reduce later saleability. Choice of colour, interior, added options are steered towards common or popular selections which they know will reduce the 'time on forecourt' before being snapped up on resale later. If this logic applies across the board, does this mean that our used car market actually benefits from a degree of restriction of available choice?

I seriously question the reasoning behind the solar panel. All it does is power a fan to cool the interior. Now, if it charged the hv Battery it would be a different matter

Certainly not an option that's much use in Northern Europe, although I can see the value in hotter climes.
