Do I Buy A Celica?

HI all,

I was all excited about buying a 140 celica and thought I'd check out the people who know on this site, now I'm not so sure. Is this oil burning problem a real deal breaker on pre-facelift cars? There seem to be loads about with pretty high mileages, so is this problem a bit exaggerated or is it fixable? Or can you live with it? Any advice would be most welcome . confused but hopeful.

With face lift examples available from £2.5K, why buy a pre?

The face lift has a much nicer interior, bigger brakes, modern rear lights and a more attractive nose IMO. Another factor is that it's also likely to be easier to sell on in the future.

It's not a deal breaker, many many early 140's have no issuse at all. BUT all of them have the potential to cost you money unless they have already had the bottom of engine replaced by Toyota or a post facelift engine fitted.

For the few hundred pounds more for a Facelift I'd rather spend just that little bit extra.

If funds are really tight, buy a Gen6 2.0 GT. Almost as good on fuel, more power.
