Hi

Having been delighted with my 2.0 t4 d4d that now has 190000 miles on it and still going string i have started looking for a tourer version around 2006 year.

I have now seen two at small dealers but both have a vibration on engine at idle. Both are around 70k and supposedly FSH ex lease cars. My concern with the first that I really liked led me to ask my regular mechanic to take a look which he agreed. the trader was happy with this at first then called later to cancel the appointment with an excuse that he couldn't offload my vehicle so wasn't interested in the sale!!?!?! This led me to believe there was something wrong which my mechanic agreed. The vibration is slight but enough to see the number plate moving and with the bonnet up it vibrates the engine covers. I took it for a spin and it did seem to run ok but even when warm it vibrated at idle. I did film it but just discovered my phone has image stabiliser on it so it does not show lol or I would have posted that here or a link to it.

having just got back from the second today and noticing it does the same although slightly less I wonder what peoples' thoughts are on this. I also stopped a local taxi driver late last night who had a t3x hatch with 100k on it. he was proud and happy to show me that his did not vibrate in the slightest.

Any experiences or answers would be appreciated.

Possible vibration reasons:

- DMF (if installed) ;

- poor injection;

- air in the fuel system;

- fuel filter is blocked

Cheers/Igor

1st thing I'd do would be to change the fuel filter. What brand of fuel are you using? Try running a tank of Shell V-Power derv in it.

Or even chuck in a tin of fuel treatment like Millers diesel clean or Forte. If you want the best stuff go for BG244 which is amazing! and powerenhancers have over 30% off for a limited time with a 100% refund if you're not happy with the results. You never know it could help, and what have you got to lose with a guarantee like that :toast:
