do you mean the thin shiney metal clips/shims at either end of the pads? A photo would really help if you can post one.

think they are the anti squeal shims !!!

These are officially called the disc pad support plates and by the look of them I think that you need new ones.

So, accepting Fitter's recommendation for new ones it may also be worth keeping an eye on them in use. It may be that, whilst they do move once refitted, they only move a small distance and that each time you push them back in they move back out again. Try letting them be and monitor where they settle. You may find that they move so far and then settle in position. Ultimately you need to be happy with them or you won't trust your car. If you are unhappy with the results then perhaps having a professional check them over will put your mind at ease.

Whew! Thank goodness they are not the ones off your car! I would have suggested that you needed new discs and carrier as well!

HI GUYS

took a picture of mine today i think in the past someone has pulled it out with plyers or something as the metal clip at the back has bent slightly straight so is sliding out . i have bent this back to an angle and pushed it back in and it stays there now but moves slightly .. might take the wheel off at the weekend and do it properly ... anyone think this could be the rattling noise i hear with window down ???
