Tyre Dressing

I know this could go in the detailing section but just wanted the opinion of the detailers here.

Which tyre dressing gives the best finish and durability? I think I'm going to get a Snow Foam lance but will get the dressing at the same time. I don't like the high gloss finish but prefer a sheen or new rubber look.

I like chemical guys new look trim on my tyres. If you don't like extreme gloss just apply, leave for 10 mins and wipe off excess. I think it gives good durability and looks. I have Meguiars endurance gel also but opt for Chemical Guys everytime. As with everything detailing alot is down to personal preference... Hope that helps Anch

I use Turtle wax nano-tech gel. Cheap and lasts a long time.

Just in time to be too late...

I bought a couple of bottles of AutoGlym tyre dressing today, simply because I always use AutoGlym stuff, with the exception of Bilbery Wheel Cleaner 10 litres of which should be arriving on Tuesday upon the recomendation of a Gentleman of this Parish.

Halfrauds appear to be having a 3 for 2 on car cleaning stuff, my 6 containers of assorted AutoGlym stuff ended up costing £27, a useful £13 off the ticket price!

Not tried the Autoglym tire dressing but be sure to let us know how you get on with it. That's the key to success of detailing world forum, people are prepared to spend time using and reviewing products!!

PS Bilberry - great purchase. I use a large foaming head on my spray bottle, it cling to wheels beautifully.

Strange how things work out isn't it.

I have never in my life put anything on my vehicles tyres, until this morning that is.

I bought a bottle of Greased Lightning Brilliant Black Quick Tyre Shine at our local Boyes store in Ilkley for £6.00

Its supposed to leave the tyres shiny, but on mine they just look like new rubber with a nice semi matt black finish.

Meguires Hyper dressing is a great product it can be used for Tyres. Dashboards, Plastics inside and outside the car just about anywhere. Its a water based product and You add water according to how You want the finish. More water gives a natural smooth but matt finish and makes the tyres look brand new and clean . More product increases the shine and You can have the tyres bright and shiny !! Same applies to interiors or exterior plastics. Its a true all-rounder !!

Only drawback its its a trade product so You have to buy a US gallon (3.8 litres) But that will last You a lifetime and will cover all of Your needs !!! Cost ?? around £20 quid from memory .. HTH.

Charlie.

PS You could use Andrex and aloe vera but then You would be truly barmy ......................

I've used it for years Blue!

It seems OK to me but there again that's from a sample range of 1

It looks milky when you spray it on but about 10 mins later it's soaked in and just looks like a new tyre, gradually fades over about 3-4 weeks. It promises to keep the tyres supple and protect against UV and that's what I'm after, you often see tyres in southern Spain, maybe only 2 or 3 years old being scrapped, loadsa tread left but the sidewalls are cracked to the point of falling apart.

The only downside is they sent it Parcel Farce - motto: "We can lose an Elephant and break an Anvil" 48hr service about 80 hours ago :crybaby:and its found its way to some Central Depot (wherever that might be) no doubt in 3 weeks time they'll leave a card somewhere in Manchester saying I'm out.

The "service" provided by that bunch of oxygen thieves makes Correos (the Spanish Royal Mail) look efficient!

Thank you for your concern Kev, accepted in the spirit it's offered

It's only really July and August that's too hot, there were warnings on the radio last summer for people not to walk their dogs coz the ground was so hot it was blistering the poor mutts feet, TBH the sand was too hot to walk on for humans and the dashes from towel to sea could be quite funny, so yeah, it doesn't do tyres any good at all.

I've never found anywhere in Cartagena that good for lunch to justify the drive, certainly not worth driving past some of the nice places between La Zenia and Los Alcazares

Any recommendations?

Lee

Indian Restaurant near La Torre Golf / Villa complex utterly fabulous, as is the Chinese "all you can eat" buffet thing adjacent to it...will get names from a friend with apartamiento thereo. You will see a big golf retail unit from motorway...just behind there I think.

Bigger Kev
