4.3 - The Strange Thing In The Middle Console

Hello RAVers,

I am trying to find out what is that for. I am talking about the sheet of metal - a type of contact?, which is in the middle console above the cigarette lighter, next to that diode light (switched with illumination of the board). It is hard to see it, you must bend your neck cause it is visible only from downward.

I bet that nobody has realised that, but I hope that someone will know it. it looks that there is a little

I have Toyota EPC, trying to look what it can be, but without results. Maybe someone will be more successfull. I am really curious!

Well, I've been and had a look (being a nosey bugger) and mine's got one too, looks like a release catch for something - if you poke it catch like movement occurs, but I can't see what it holds in place and none of the surrounding bits fall off.

Sorry, not very helpful, hopefully there'll be an adult along soon with a sensible answer

I'm sure I remember seeing in a 4.3 accessories catalogue (not the UK one) that a cover is available to turn that area into a proper storage cubby.

So I guess this may be part of mechanism to attach the door/flap in place ? (don't have a Rav now remember so can't look at said item)
