Look out for noisy/rattly injectors....give it some welly, if they rattle, give it some swerve. Also look out for misted up headlights, pitted or noisy brake discs. Toyota did all these under different warranties / TSB's on my 55 plate T3X in late 2008, so a while ago now, and this one may already have done or not suffered.

Great car though,

Big Kev

Look out for shiny car syndrome. It will be all shiny and lovely when your dad looks at it. So will all the others that you haven't seen yet. Its not the only car out there. Try to help him look past the shine and look for problems or indications of any issues. The tyres will tell you a lot about how the car has been driven, as will the discs. Excessive wear = excessive speed & braking. All the usual stuff really.

sorry, don't mean to teach you to suck eggs but looking for cars with people you know can be a nightmare.

good luck. Hope its a lovely car. Let us know how you get on.

UPDATE

well we wne to look at the car. WOW what a nail. No chance of shiny syndrome lol. It was in awful condition. All alloys kerbed, lacor on the paint coming off under the window seals, paint all tarnished under the filler cap where fuel hadnt been wiped off, scratches all over it and this was up for &6,500 jokers. I suspect it may have been clocked or just not looked after all its life. Anyway we left that car anf walked round the forcourt for a nose. 6 Cars away there was a T Spirit. Lovely dark blue, 40,000 miles, full leather and electric pack. few kerbs on the wheels but thats about it was in really good condition and this was only and extra £250 so at £6,750. this makes no sense to me anybody else got any idea why? It had done less miles top spec and only £250 more. The only thing i can think of is because the other one was a tourer and this is a saloon. Anyway hes made the purchase and picking it up on monday.

Service history could be a factor but who knows how these guys work their prices out.
