depends what you are expecting & how good your dealer is but most likely you will be happy with it.

Make sure that you get the satnav DVD with it (ideally the latest version as they are very dear to update), the headlights with standard bulbs are poor but OK with upgraded bulbs (pain to get at to change though) & the standard brake discs/pads are adequate rather than good.

Which engine - 2.0 or 2.2?

The 2.2 seems to suffer from a potential head/gasket problem much more than the 2.0 (Toyota do have an unpublicised policy of an extended warranty for this though).

Ok so there are some cars that need work doing but on the positive side not all of them do and in my view if you need work doing a Toyota dealer is the place to get it done right. What sort of warranty is the dealer offering?

I bought my 2.2 TR D4D last October and I'm really pleased with it 2008 on a 57 plate with 16200 on the clock. Recently clocked 57mpg on a run to Heathrow and back urban can vary between 40 and 45mpg. I've had Toyotas since 1995 starting with a Carina Matchplay then a 2002 Avensis Vermont and now this diesel Avensis and will stick with them in future. I just hope by the time I go to change this one Toyota have the sense to reintroduce a hatchback version. Hope this helps and enjoy your new car.

Hi again I've been given a twelve month warenty and my next service free. To update my sat nav will cost approximately £160, I'm not bothering, I've got garmin and tom tom to sort me out if needed.

Picked it up yesterday got it home only to find the english disc for the sat nav missing, the others are there, any idea what my options?

Take a look on eBay for the discs as there is a set (E11) going on there starting at 99p atm.

it's not already in the unit by any chance?

you could try complaining to dealer/salesman & seeif they'll give you any form of discount off replacement disc or a rebate on what you paid for the car?

as mentioned see what's on eBay or bite the bullet & pay through the nose for the latest update.

I have just purchased the same car in New Zealand. Does this model have a CAM Belt or chain drive.?

both 1AD & 2AD series engines have a chain

Just so that all are aware that these are sold as backup discs & are only supposedly legal if you already have the same original oem disc already ...
