Hi all, i'm new to this club so please bear with me, basically i am the proud owner of a 1980 TA40 celica which i purchased 14 years ago from my then girlfriend's father ( agh the things you gotta do to get your hands on a nice retro motor !)

i drove it for a while but got fed up with the lack of power in the 16st engine, i then got thinking wot would it be like with a corolla 4age twincam plant under the bonnet, & what would ya no, a neighbour told me he had one runing on 40's in his rally car which he was thinking of selling so i baught it, so to make a long story short i removed the st engine & tried to fit the twincam only to find out the block was somewhat different & the mounts would not line up (did consider making new mounts but had trip to Australia planed which was more important at the time!) so the engine sat beside the car for a few years !

i was then offered a strong price for the 4age & let it go, then whilst on eBay one evening i came across a fella breaking a low millage 1980 GT celica so i bid on the 18RG motor & eventually got it, the guy in england sent me everything to convert the st to GT fair play to him !

also stumbled across a 1980 RA40 2.0 celica in bolton on eBay & ended up buying it as i was after a gearbox for the 18RG plant & also needed a fair few other bits.

anyway, found that the drive shaft ends were different & the gearbox was dodgie so project stoped again.

recently i was thinking about how much i love the subaru boxer engine & love the prospect of the subaru plant going into yhis 2012 toyota which is more than a concept car at this stage, so i decided i wanted to be the first to have a subaru powered celica !

i now have an import 96 wrx parked beside the TA40 & have started the chop shop job, this project realy excites me as it is so crazy i might even make it happen !

if any one has info on upgradeing the RA40 brakes please get in touch, i've read about hilux 4pots being put on celicas but don't no if they bolt straight onto the RA40 hub, i really want to keep it simple as complications put me of a project, also, i need info on what back end to use, i have the st axle still in it but that will have to go as the power woult ring it in a few seconds, i also have the 2.0 celica back end & subaru back end but the subaru diff is totally alien to the celica mounts etc, if you no anyone with chrome bumpers &/or door handles i would also be interested as mine are rusty,
