Hey guys.

I have seen a few posts on here with people advertising they have parts for sale. I am planning on doing a full service as i always do with a new car and according to toyota, i should change the oil, air and air conditioning filter at it's current mileage. The replace coolant/oil isn't a problem as i can get that, but i would appreciate a quote on the above parts for a '2002 RAV4 VVT-i 2.0 VX' or if someone can guide me to the name of someone who can help that would be great.

I know i could go to a local motor store but best prices are normally online.

If i'm not allowed to ask this here, then i apologize and any moderator please delete this.

Thanks in advance.

KINGO ??? Or as You say online.... I find the local Dealer will do a good price if You quote online prices. Plus there is no postage to add. I'm assuming You are using genuine Toyota parts ??...

Charlie....Kingo / Parts King is Parts Manager at Lindop Toyota (somewhere dan saff near Welsh Waleshire). He discounts us members by 10% and more, and carriage usually no more than a paltry £7.00, unless you order a whole engine, which may be dearer. He has always beaten any Mr.T in my area of Glasgow, and saves me gaun and queuing up only to be told it has to be ordered in, Sur.

Works for me......

Big Kev  (Titleist balls will be fine Kingo....PTS Roll....12 of.)

Cool. Glad it works for You Kev. I got a set of four genuine mudflaps from Our local dealer for £41 and no postage. The best on the net was £44 quid plus post.......... So for Me the Dealer wins hands down as if there are any problems returning the stuff is easy....

You under-estimate Parts king.

I actually ordered some stuff and said it was needed asap - he managed for the first time in my experience, to get Royal Mail to deliver the part on a Sunday!!!!!!!!!!

I only ordered it on the following Monday! The man is a genius !

haha - I bought 2 brand new Toyotas from wur local dealer and got treated like farm material. Then the replacement for them told me I couldn't fit a 3SGTE engine into a 1994 RAV4 3 door. I now have 2 1994 RAV4s ..both with 3SGTE engines.

Then they told me I couldn't separate the front strut to fit adjustable shock absorbers... but I did that too.

They know nothing cos the training is if it doesn't work then replace it... the same phillosofy that landrover use.

Does a 2002 vvti rav4 have a cam belt? I normally for peace of mind change the belt on all my new cars but i never owned a 4x4 so don't know if its the same.

It also has an auxiliary belt for things such as the water pump. Not sure of any need to change due to time/mileage though.

60,000 miles or 5 yrs seems to ring a bell.

If not so corrections welcomed.

I agree they can nearly always knock 10% off, and with a bit more bum licking, get even more off.

If I ever need a part I just go to my local Toyota parts desk. I live in a Big City so have 3-4 dealerships to choose from.

The postaged kills any online discount.

PM Me your registration number and I will price the bits you want

The carriage does not always kill the discount, it depends what you are buying, if its a dealer only part with a whole load of no margin in it then we struggle, but if you need a fair few service bits for instance then our prices are generally better, even taking delivery into account

B_B Yes I have an arrangement with the Post Office, anything with your name on is delivered before you order it

Big_Kev Ive always said you have the finest balls on TOC :D:

Kingo

"you talking to me" ;-) ?

I pm'ed you on 3 occasions for prices on things. And on 3 occasions it worked out the same price if not cheaper to just go to my local stealership. ;-)

I go to euro carparts now. I don't like paying over £20 for a oil filter. Even if it does have Toyota printed on it.

The touch up paint I got for my rav from my local dealership 1E0 does not match the colour of the car. No idea why ?

Got some from 3rd party supplier cheaper that matched perfectly.

Good for you, I always quote giving our best price, I dont expect every person that PM's me not to try around, thats why we give our best price. I can give you dozens of examples of customers who DO save money buying through me, If I sold parts to everyone who PM'd me, I would be living in Barbados now

That suits you, thats fine, some people want genuine parts at discounted prices, not a replica

No idea, not had any come back to me like that, maybe a faulty batch, I presume the colour code on the tin is the same colour code as the car? You should have taken it back to the dealer......or got it from Europarts to start with

Kingo

I`m sure you give a great service, that most will be happy with, Toyota must be happy with your monthly sales, Do you get a brucie bonus

I`m sure they do, I too used to buy genuine parts from dealerships, untill I found out that most of the 3rd party pattentened parts manufactures made the same parts for the big car manufactures, all they did was put there name on it and up the cost..... I would not say Bosch was a replica part...... I could even argue it is the better part

I did take it back to the dealer, and waited 15 minutes while they scratched their behinds, trying to work out why it was the wrong colour.

I got bored in the meantime, so went home and scratched my own behind while I sourced some from somewhere else.
