Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could help.My avensis cut out while i was driving last week, and wouldnt restart.Luckily i was round the corner from work,so pushed it into the yard, and plugged it into the computer, the fault that come up was immobiliser malfunction/ecu malfunction. So i got an auto spark out and he tested everything and said it wasnt the immobiliser,So i plugged it into a computer again and it still said the same,So i replaced the ecu,the chip in the key and it still wont fire. Its turning over, and sounds like it wants to start, but just wont fire.

Anyone got any ideas please??

I know you did not get a reading, but what about the crank position sensor? If your car is the pre vvti version, then try the self diagnostics. Even though you put your car on the diagnostics, it is worth a try.

Jump connectors 4 and 13 on the OBD socket and turn the key to ignition, but don't start. You should see EML flash. code 6, 12 & 13 point to crank speed sensor or signal.

The other fault could be fuel pump failure. You will normally hear it prime before starting, when it works fine.

Just a couple of ideas.

Good luck.
