lo guys, bad news.

driving my car home last night and my fan belt snapped. for most of you who know the 5e-fhe engine this means the alternator and the water pump stopped.

i drove the car for about 4 miles after this and the water was boiling, was leaking out of the water bottle.

i fear for the worst - what do you guys think. do you recon ive ****d up my head gasket ?

please help would be nice

Quite possibly. Any water in the oil? Check dipstick. A compression test and cylinder leakdown test would say for sure.

I've got head gaskets for the 5E-FHE if required.

The worst case scenario is that the aluminum cylinder head has warped...

u got the parts capable of repairing this, eg the cylinder head, etc. If ive warped it.

and how much money we talking here ?

would be very greatful if you could help, ive been waiting 4 - 5 months to get this car on the road and within the first day it breaks :crybaby:

thanks

Probably. I've got several 5E-FHE engines that have suffered bottom end failures. The top end should be OK - but can be checked.

If your head is warped it can be machined flat again.

Head gasket set is about £ 80 plus VAT. A secondhand head, would be about £ 50.

Just do like the man says... either drain the oil or check the dipstick, and then get a gunsons compression tester (like £20) to make sure. Dont panick, just get this done first, toyota stuff is usually quite durable
