Yaris Rival

Just so you guys know, if you see one of these beasts on the road:

P1997001.jpg

and its has white alloys, then don't be fooled! Its not a slow box like Suzuki. Its a relativly nippy box like Suzuki.

Pretty much the same as the Yaris with a 1.5 VVTi engine (exactly the same one as the Yaris perhaps?) producing 107bhp and launching the car from 0-62 in 8.9seconds. I think that it'd be a very even race.

Just so ya know :P

surely that's going to be a lighter car than the yaris?

i.e. better power to weight ratio than the YTS...

Looks nice.............

Its a box on wheels dude. The rear end leaves a lot to be desired too. Released in the 90's then yer, but doesn't really live up to todays styling. I guess its the same weight as the Yaris as its producing practically the same bhp and is only 0.1 second faster from 0-62.

Identical in performance, but I know which one wins for desirability. However if your looking for a fast car to whip boy racers in their nova's, and looks like a snail, then this is quite a good one. They'll probably cry when you go past.

It's hideous!

I bought my Yaris second hand from a Suzuki dealership and they kept trying to sell me one of these instead.

It looked far too big for a 1.5 engine.

Wheels and seats are pretty cool though.

It looks like a bus!

I'm amazed it can do 0-60 in 8.9 seconds with a 1.5 engine. It's the same size as the Suzuki off road things, only it's even uglier.

They look like right nasty little cars to me, I was sitting next to one at some traffic lights yesterday and it definately is just a box on wheels..yarii are much more good looking!

It looks ok, I say each to their own! I prefer Yaris myself, but no doubt people like Suzuki and will buy the cars!

I also find Yarii just look sporty, no matter which model you drive, where as that looks like a Citroen Saxo!

Hi everyone

Well i think that it's not a bad motor. It's fully load with all the equipment which a yaris t sport has got and the amazing thing it's only £9995.00 on the road. For your money you've got yourself a good reliable run about with a bit of kick. If you all remember the swift GTi well that was no slow coach. Look forward to seeing a few on the roads

What do you think have a look

Arg.. i fail to see how anyone could buy that over a Yaris? Only possible reason is price... but I'm sure you could get a very smart second hand TS for that money.

Looks boxy.

Wheels are way too small - and only look good on certain colours.

Interior is... boring?

Looks boxy.

Only reason I'd ever buy it would be as a sleeper car. So that everyone thinks its damn slow.. but are surprised when you put your foot down - but that would only be if I had money to throw round.

Hey i think thats it's value for money. Nice interior good looking seats dash looks cool. And it's got a good engine. What more do you want if you haven't got loads of money to throw about  And it's properly cheap to run and insure as well. I would buy one.

indeed. the yaris is far lovelier looking, and as there is no difference in performance then yaris all the way.

but, had it say had a 0-60 in the 6's, then it comes down to what ya want. performance or looks.

looks can always be acheived, but performance is limited in a way, unless you have large amounts of cash.

although saying all this, i'd have a scoob anyday over an evo or skyline, just for the sound of the engine. sod the performance.

i'd prefer this sti wr1

quicker and cheaper, and still a scoob :)

i dont race fellow jap cars, and certainly not evos. i'm very low powered.

but i still sound better. no evo or skyline will ever have the sound a scoob has.

the flat four unequal piston length thingy is just fannytastic.

if not as loud as my mrs dads harley.

If it was in the 6's then it would kinda be in a different league? Like the Golf R32 and Clio V6. The reason it is a Yaris rival is because its the same speed and insurance.

And I don't think you could expect it to be just as cheap if it was that fast. If it was.. i'd probably still go for something second hand, just as fast, with a bit more style.

Its all relative u see ;)
