Middle Front Jack Point 2005 Yaris?

Hi

I'm about to change front brake pads, but I can't seem find the middle front jackpoint. I know it's somewhere on the front subframe, but there's no arrow indicating where.

I've seen illustrations on the net, but those must the be the japanese models. Mine is a 2005 1.3 (phase 2) french built Yaris.

I'll hate to break something, so any help will be greatly appriciated.

i have the same problem with my auris finding the central front and rear jack points. they look very easy to find aoccording to the handbook but not so when i look under car.dont need to use them at present but out of interest i had a peep under both ends of car.must get it over a friends inspectiion pit and have a better look.

If your's is the same as mine (Yaris) then there will be a large securing nut in a recess off centre of the subframe. The designated jacking point is close to this, I'm sure it's slightly proud of the subframe. I used it to complete an engine oil and filter change but supported the car on the sill points using axle stands and a couple of ice hockey pucks with a central groove cut into them to accomodate the sill seam. As an aside, with the 1.4D 2009+ oil filter removal requires the correct uncommon size tool, a relative in the USA bought mine for me from Amazon.com (this http://www.asttool.com/detail_page.php?from_search=y&tool_number=TOY%20640&total=26&offset=0&stype=bymanf&manf=Toyota%20/%20Lexus ). You will need a short jack handle to start with because there is very little clearance to allow operation of the jack.

The rear jacking point is a ridiculous pointed protrusion, about 80mm wide, off centre (to the right) in front of the rear lower "bumper" moulding and behind the boot recess. I refuse to use this as being totally inadequate and dangerous. The risk of the car falling off the jack head is, in my opinion, too great. I tried it once but it's too high off the ground and with the trolley jack at full height the rear wheels were nowhere near off the ground! I use the rear sill points, again using the pucks.
