My 2006 T3X had this repaired under warranty in 2008 as it was a Toyota Part Failure. The whole tunnel cowling at that time was about £90.00 + VAT. If you have no warranty or redress on a Toyota main dealer, I would learn to live with fresh air getting at that area....expensive repair.....?

Mr T in Liverpool has quoted

ARE YOU SITTING DOWN

£140+ - +VAT = A LOT

Evidently you have to buy the centre consul piece complete with the coin box( that's what it is according to MrT)

you cannot buy just the locking Mechanism ....even though it has a part number

I have made a repair to the Mechanism but it is not 100% work every time when closing the flap ...you have

to push it closed a few times until it catches

according to Mr T this is a very common fault

BTW A local breaker wants £25+vat for the part

Dead right, Cav....it's a very common fault....Toyota's Far King Fault !!!!! I personally do not know how to do this, but feel sure you should be able to trace a Toyota Service Bulletin (TSB) ON THIS VERY SUBJECT.

And I note the bleeder has gone up from about £90-95.00 to £140.00 in a couple of years.....J.H.C.
