Never ridden a motorbike in my life, but in a weeks time,I shall be watching quite a few race round my fair old Isle.Great!!!!!! it,s TT fortnight,so it,s up to Douglas everyday to watch them go mad.

I will also walk down the road to watch the Pre TT road races at Castletown, now that is good, they actually race against each other.

The banter and the commeradery at the TT is brillant, French ,German, Irish and Yanks they all come over and enjoy the crack. So 19000 bikes driving around the Island for 2 weeks can have it,s moments (especially on Mad Sunday), but it is a superb fortnight.

Oh THEM

I'm currently bikeless :crybaby: but must get something again soon, but it'll be a cruiser type bike here coz wearing 20lbs of Hideout's finest cowhide is not for contemplating in this heat.

Anyway, when I got divorced, in the garage was an Aprilia Mille RSV-R, a Honda VFR800 and a Triumph Bonneville 140, diverse tastes or what .

Hi CF - since I seem guilty of starting the chain of thought...

Beemer 1150 GS - currently in need of a new tyre and MoT, but probably not for long since my commute shortened by 90 miles a day and now does not involve the Severn Bridge (no toll for bikes!). Thinking of what next, but one of these seems like quite fun:

Are you still racing, or just riding for fun?

Will be competing in endurance this Year on a bike that I built from the frame up. I sold it to a Mate 2 Years ago and have been asked to ride in 8 hour Pre Injection this Year ....

As You can see its definately Pre Injection .................

This is the bike I use most days for the run to work.

Its a 1994 Kawasaki GPZ 500S.

At 17 years old its getting a bit long in the tooth now, but only 22000 on the clock and I can still scare myself on it.

GPZ500-After-01.jpg

Then if its old you want, how about my "best bike". A 1950 BSA B32 350cc with the all alloy engine.

I restored this one 28 years ago from a pile of rust. It is strictly a sunny day bike and has only done about 2000 dry miles in my ownership.

I've got a Honda SH300 scooter for going to work and tooling around. It's a right laugh and makes me feel 16 again....brilliant in the city. I've also got a BMW GS 1150 for playing out on and longer trips. Ideal combination in my world.

Me,

Been a motorcycle owner and rider since 1969. Missed a few years mind you but I'm back into it now.Started off with a Francis barnet 2 stroke, had a selection of Japanese and German machines. Presently on a BMW R1150gs with extras for the weekend camping trips. There has been a few mods to it the 3 way cat has gone ( not a MOT requirement ) and a Remus end can. Not a BHP thing all about torque it pulls like a train.

Think the riding skill gives me a bit of a advantage.

I have a 2008 rav xtr petrol but use the bike every day for work,I've got a choice but it's the bike for me. PS I also like my Rav it is the 3rd one I have owned all from new.

In all I consider myself a pretty lucky guy.

Could it be that they are in some ways similar? Not a sports car/bike etc but both very good in the real world and (hopefully) just keep on going etc etc. Maybe someone who chooses a RAV will also be attracted to a GS 'cos they both fit with a certain "psyche"?

I've had a CB100, no not a typo, a 100cc, then 250 Superdream, CB900FB, GPZ500S and finally a ZX9R. Suffered a multiple fractured femur and still have the femoral nail (which itself fractured and is in 2 pieces) in my leg. Hung up the leathers after I found out the nail was broken but had ridden since the accident. Daren't risk another knock on the leg so stricktly the RAV only for me. All my mates have moved onto comfy bikes now, HDs, a new Thruxton and a Rocket 3 but, sadly, not for me anymore.
