Bluetooth Operation

Hi,

I've just taken delivery of a 2009 Auris Diesel. I asked the dealer to fit the Toyota handsfree kit.

When a call come in, the passenger side radio feed turns off and plays the call, but the driver side stays on (volume turned down a bit). So a) I can't hear the call because of the poxy radio and b)the caller can't hear me over the radio. I've taken it back to the dealer - nothing wrong, thats how its designed to operate, if the radio bugs you turn it down. The stereo volume has no effect on the call volume and at speed its not loud enough.

Is this really how it's supposed to operate??? Friends with a Parrot kit & relevant head unit, other Friends with Sony bluetooth stereos shut the radio off and you can control the call volume off the stereo.

Welcome to TOC

As far as retrofit bluetooth goes, I can't help. But in my Prius the radio volume lowers both for the satnav instructions and when the phone rings

I've never taken any notice of which speaker, but my wife can chat on the phone just as well as I can. Same in the Aygo, volume of the radio is muted and either front seat passenger can chat.

Have you tried playing with the settings on the bluetooth unit?

Just a thought , are the Speakers on the radio balanced properly in the front? Not playing more from one side than the other??

Hi, I have this system on my auris. It should mute the radio automatically when a call comes in. The phone audio only comes out of the passenger speaker because I think it is a mono output only.

You should take this back to toyota as it sounds like they haven't got the wiring quite right to enable the radio to be fully muted.

On my Auris also, the radio completely silences during and incoming call and sat nav directions.

Thanks for the replies.

When you say volume lowers - does that mean it doesn't cut the radio all together?

Yes, I did finally resort to the instruction manual, but generally speaking was fairly useless - it says I can play music off the phone through the stereo, but that doesn't work - not sure if it doesn't like brotherhood of man, me or my iPhone. probably all three.

Slightly off topic - is it my imagination, an inaccurate fuel computer or just crap fuel consumption?

  • 2 months later...

Mine cuts the radio off completely when a call comes in....also has crap fuel consumption, but mines an SR180 and they are notoriously bad it seems.

Nope it should mute the radio completely when calls come in or you begin to make a call not just one side. Take it back
