Avensis Acceleration Problem

Hi

I have a Toyota avensis 2.2 d4d, 60000 miles full service history to date.

Yesterday I noticed that when accelerating I have a loud noise (like air escaping) from the engine bay. It does this in every gear and even in neutral when just revving. I have no engine warning lights.

I have contacted Toyota and have booked it in for Monday morning, just wondered whether anyone had a similar problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your reply. So your saying there is play in the injectors and they need re-calibrating.

How much do you think this will cost/ is it a big job

Thanks

Why not get a second hand pipe from a breakers yard? Bet it wouldn't cost much more than £40 for one!

Its very common for the intake pipe to come off the throttle/venturi body underneath the inlet manifold. This is the most likely cause so normally needs refitting only for a minimal charge. The N/S/F intake pipe also sometimes pops off the intercooler. Never seen a pipe tear though.
