When I sometimes open the hatch on my Auris I hear a continuous beep sound, not always but sometimes, I can't figure out what triggers it, today I got out the car opened the rear passenger door and then opened the hatch and there was a continuous beep for about 8 seconds, can anyone please tell me what triggers this?

I've encountered that as well and I think it's because you have a either a door or the hatch open with the car powered up and the key outside the car (it normally happens when I'm chucking stuff in the back and I have the car armed and the key in my pocket). Not the definitive answer, but I reckon that's what's happening.

In the Auris, the beep is triggered if you accidentally press the 'lock' button when you open the hatch. The little knob that locks the car is one of the few things that I think are badly designed on the Auris... Especially in winter, with gloves on, I found it pretty hard to find the button when I wanted to lock the car, and also difficult to avoid pressing it when I was opening the hatch. Now that it's summer, it hasn't happened to me in a while. Maybe I'm getting better at it?
