Hi

My name is Adam and I live in Maidstone in Kent. I have owned a Celica Supra (mk II) since 1997, but unfortunately I couldn't afford to run it over the last few years and it sat on my back drive exposed to the elements (in hindsight I wish I hadn't left it there). Well I recently moved house and needed to shift it, and now I have a bit more money (but no time) I got a local classic car restorers to have a look at it (a local garage had already told me to scrap it due to the rust around the rear axle / sills). They have quoted me about £1000 to get it back on the road, which will mainly be all the welding it needs. I will also need to replace to the two rear tyres, which I am trying to source at the moment, for it to pass the MoT.

I will need to get a new sunroof eventually too as there is some rust around there too. I have been told that mechanically it is in pretty good shape, and runs well.

I thought this forum would be a good place to ask a few questions and get some help. So would be grateful if anyone has any pointers.

Specifically:

Where can I get rear tyres? They don't seem to be particularly easy to come by?

Where can I get a replacement sunroof? I have called a few local breakers and they don't seem to have any sunroofs (and have also been told that this tends to be a weakspot so most Supras will have a rusty sunroof!

Is it worth spending up to £2000 getting it on the road (aside from the fact that it is something that I want to do). Will it have a resale value anything like this?? I know its ultimately up to me, and I do want to drive it again, but I don't want to pour £££s into it if it turns out to be a bottomless pit.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Doh, as soon as I posted this, I saw a message that read "This section is for new members to introduce themselves. Please do not ask questions about your car here. ". My apologies, could a moderator please move this to the appropriate forum. Sorry!!

Welcome to the club. I don't know a huge amount about the car in question apart from I have always liked them. Is it worth spending the money??? only you can answer that! If its what you want to do then yes it is worth it, don't even think about resale as the car could go up or down in value in the future.

I try to approach both cars that I spend on in a mind frame of can I afford not to see a return on the money??? as is the case most often we never realise the money spent back in our wallets.
